    The gears are turning in my head, I realize that it would require some serious fab and a custom casing to work with Tacoma front CV's but shit, that looks like it's not too much bigger than the normal front diff!
    Gear it right and put a smallish battery where the Tcase would normally go (plus a removable plug in pack above the rear axle??) ... but then you would have to figure out how to control it too.

    I know it probably would end up a gimmick with no advantage over a real Tcase and axle but damn a hybridrunner Taco would be some cool shit.

    Being someone that has done a fair amount of research and in a similar spot as you, it really depends on what you go with..... I personally plan to go with a 60/14/full hydro combo when it comes. But those pumpkins are big and 40's are almost needed to keep them off of stuff.... I also have no intentions on anything other than full hydro, by the time you do hydro assist, and all the work and $$ you're some what close to full hydro cost, especially when you factor in that your not spending tons of money on heady duty steering linkage and stuff... it also keeps it easier for up travel... just my opinion though. Since my truck will be a dedicated toy even more than it is now, I would also save money with things like lockers etc. and just run a rear spool or welded to keep things as simple as can be, while staying stout...

    At 6.50$ a share how much worse could it get. If someone wanted to take a risk on this and a buyout happened there could be some good upside to it.

    A lot of LCs with the birfs on 40s, why not just upgrade the shafts and internals and run those?

    Selectable all day long in the front. Auto in the rear. When I’m in 4wd, hubs locked my steering goes from school bus to train because I have an a lunchbox in the front

    I definately agree that the rear being a spool can make it push and be annoying 110% although often with a little throttle you can steer with the rear and get it going where you want....

    In a dedicated trail rig, that maybe sees the street occasionally to go get lunch on a weekend of working in the garage etc, I definitely would not be paying for selectables.... Personally anyways. Spools or Lunchbox style lockers sure, that way you can get them to unlock if need be for whatever reason, but I dont see a reason to add $2k to a build to do ARB'S FRONT AND REAR.. That pays for your full hydro..and you dont have air leak maintenance... Having lockrights front and rear in my current truck, they do great, and are manageable on the street, a little noisy but with our wheelbase they are fine. Would be even smoother in an automatic... Am I the only one that would give this trade off of selectable lockers for full hydro?

    I feel like full hydro would be way easier and better to setup than hydro assist. Less linkages to screw with, don’t have to mount the steering box in front of the axle on the frame rail, greater approach angle etc etc. Maybe I’ll go that route from the start
