So, came the closest I’ve ever come to dying in the gym yesterday.

Got this older guy to spot me on bench. going for 275 for 3. He asked if I wanted a lift off. I said yea, just a little. Well, I went to unrack, he basically picked it up and dropped it on me. My wrist buckled, then my elbow buckled and I couldn’t hold it up. It was coming down toward my face, but I could at least guide it away. It ended up landing on my collarbones. He just kinda stood there and looked at me.

He was the only person there so I had to keep gettin him to spot me. Next time I told him not to worry about a lift off

I only let a select few people I know spot me for that reason. If they're not there I just say fuck it and go light.

Deadlifted today. After warmups I did 415 for 4sets of 5 and then did 10 on my last set. Little dude came up beforehand and said he was going for 500 max this week and that got me fired up lol.

5/3/1 squat day yesterday was nice.

    squats: 255x3, 290x3, 320x3
    deads: 5 sets of 10 @ 225
    leg extensions: 3 x 10
    lying leg curls: 3 x10
    calves
    abs

How is maybe being able to get 315 approaching my max? :notsure:

Same here. My chat with my 2-3 spotters I use is, "I'll unrack it. Do not touch this bar until I tell you to." I don't like help unless I'm bout to die.

Still kickin. Lost my voice and can't talk. So sad :pout:

So apparently there is something in the air. I had some punk ass kid drop a 45lb plate on my foot.

I was at the incline bench finishing up my last set so I jump off to take my weights off. I notice a 5lb plate falls out of the sky... by the time I realize why it’s raining plates it’s too late to jump out of the way before a 45lb plate fell on my foot.

The kid next to me was lifting way too much apparently and lost it.

He lost all his plates. Poor kid was humiliated.

I feel like an idiot because I didn’t notice he was struggling at all. But I was in my zone jammin to NWA.

I didn’t say anything. I figured I didn’t need to. He probably won’t be doing it again LOL.

For sure - I’ve developed good mobility and strength from CrossFit - no injuries thus far rolling with 20 year old guys my size. Planning on continuing for years.

Have you done Fran ? Looks a little silly doesn’t it ? I haven’t done it in a while. How about give her a go and let us know your time. Light weights and a bunch of pull ups, right ?

Last squat max was 415, however this program should make it go up monthly. We’ll see.

My legs were pretty stoved up after yesterday’s workout. The DOMS days after isn’t as bad as a strictly hypertrophy workout, but during and right after the workout blows.
