I've gotten my hands into plenty of vintage iron over the years, but no way I'd dive into that as I'm chicken too.

Never changed the speedo gear in the Nova when I put the new rear in. I drive by engine sound and RPM's.

It's easy on the vintage stuff, though. The entire dash panel on my '69 is held on with 6 phillips head screws. On the '84 I think it's all of 9 or 10 screws instead, 5 or 6 for the trim and 4 for the dash panel itself.

I see... the video and instructions I saw all say to put them back to where they "rest", meaning, either at 0 or below 0 depending on the year/make/model, and the instructions that it came with.

I need something like this. Just spend $530 bucks on 186 gallons of heating oil (that lasted like 6 weeks) and my electric bill up here in vermont is still $200 a month. crazy. I don't even know where the electric if going. In Florida at least i knew it was all going to the A/C

What is your heat run by? I'd hate to see what that costs. I had my place at 67, then got hit with that huge heating oil bill like I mentioned above. Now my poor fiance that I took here from Florida has to live with 55* at night and between 57* and 62* during the day. She isn't too happy. Granted it has been -20 to -10 every day here in VT the last 3 weeks until today

Late to the party. 70 degrees here when we are home because of the baby, bumping to 72 as needed. Our family room is poorly insulated with old picture windows so it's windy. We have a wood stove we use on the weekend to knock out the chill.

Also, I decided to see how the other side lives.

Good to hear, these bfgs just clog up with snow and mud I'm not happy with the way they clean out.

Are the load e sidewalls any stronger than the c I've heard quite a few stories of side wall punctures.

    Correct.

The Jeep is at the body shop getting the passenger door repaired thanks to a spineless hit and run. We got a RAV4 as a rental which I loathed. It threw a CEL this AM and this is all Enterprise had at their office.

The wife is half amused, half annoyed with it. It's awkward to get into and out of. My 2G with lift had to be taller than the F-150, or at least more ground clearance but this is more difficult to get in and out of. because it feels like there's multiple levels to climb up into. That being said, the lack of grab handle in the 3G Tacoma is definitely significantly amplified now that I've had a handle to use again.

I only assume this one has the 2.7 EB and outside of a slow kickdown I like the driveline. It's a little clunky and doesn't have that V8 insta-torque and plant you into your seat, but it doesn't have the turbo lag of a turbo motor. I tried the toad hall feature and it didn't do anything and sport mode was also a little wonky the way it held gears. I think if I had a new truck that didn't have 17K of rental abuse, I'd feel differently. Regardless, it beats the 3.5L Tacoma motor where the power delivery feels like you've got a monster turbo and then you get power and it feels like you've got 0.5 psi of boost to work with. The Taco is deceptively fast in that it doesn't feel good moving, but you look down and you're moving at a good clip. The EB is significantly smoother and doesn't seem like the truck is falling apart.

It's got a column shift which I still haven't mastered. Both times I shifted out of park I ended up in manual mode. I love the visibility out with the sloping hood (something the Taco sucks at). There is so much room in back compared to the Taco which has similar rear space to my STi and 4th gen Accord. I'm not in love with the HVAC or radio but I'm sure once I got used to it, I'd be indifferent. The sheer width of the cab made reaching the controls a bit more challenging than I would have liked. I don't think I like the width of the cab. This one has the fold down center seat that has like the tray / cupholder thing. It's weird, but I feel like I'm 12 years old again riding in my uncle's truck because it makes me feel tiny.

That being said, I definitely didn't hate it, and if Toyota ended up doing something wonky with the Tacoma moving forward, I couldn't rule one out, but I do believe it's just too big for me. My dream truck would actually be smaller than the Tacoma, believe it or not, something more along the lines of the 1st gen DCSB, perhaps. Actually I'd probably still prefer a 1st gen Xtracab, but that's just not practical when you've got a a family. I can see how the F-150 would make sense if you've got a couple of pre-teen / teenagers without licenses that you need to cart around without them murdering each other. I just don't like how low the new full size trucks look compared to the smaller trucks. Maybe I'll build a new F-150 for laughs and see what it would cost.

EDIT : 60K. Sixty Thousand Dollars. Yeah, no.

Which trim package did you build to get to $60k, the Lariat? It's pretty ridiculous, even an XL crew cab 4wd with a decent engine is mid-$30k MSRP now.

Yeah. I just wanted the 5.0 (because Vanilla Ice) LED headlights, a moonroof, and no chrome. Granted, I did add the stripe and off-road packages. I couldn't get the LED headlamps on the XLT, unless I clicked the wrong boxes. I'll have to try again. I built up a Sierra All-Terrain X (because light bar) for like 53K or so. Granted, I know with the American manufacturers you can get huge discounts relative to MSRP, but still, I could build a Ram 2500 with a stick for not much more.

Unfortunately, you can't get the LED headlights on the XLT and the only way to get rid of the chrome is either get the sport package or go high enough in trim packages so it disappears (or the stripped down XL model).

And the thing about that Ram 2500 with a stick is it's attached to a Cummins 6.7. I've played around with their build site and put together a decent SLT crew cab 6 speed manual with the Cummins for about $50k, maybe a little more but not much.
