Oh yea, I'm aware of his name and legacy. They actually moved his old shop from his home, to the waterfowl museum on the island to preserve the history.

Both my parents, numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, and high school friends all work as Wallops. That's one of the main employers around here, unless you want to work for Tyson or Perdue.

If you ever make a visit back, shoot me a PM! The island has definitely changed. We just got a brewery and they have some unique beers to try.

I live about a football throw from the state line, but the shore in general is rural. The only good thing I have going for me is Mobtown is about 1.5 hours away.

Sure.... Let's go with that. He said he didn't have any close by VA groups, so I was just pointing out another possibility since MD is between the main body of VA and the eastern shore.

 

We should plan a weekend this summer and go off-roading on the beaches.

Not much to do around here but cruise up and down the beach. They keep everything other than beach roped off for good reason. Idiots drive up and into the dunes.

OBX has waaaaay more beach to explore and they have tons of "inside" trails in case you get stranded during high tide at your fishing spot.

 

I've been to OBX too, back when I had my Tundra. Lot's of open beaches there. There's a nice campground at Ocracoke where we all stayed.

 

Nice! We day tripped to Ocracoke last fall when we had some snotty weather.

Hatteras Village and Buxton have the most trails in my opinion. They snake all around the dunes and beaches.

 

Well, if anyone plans an OBX trip, I'm in. Probably.

Oh shit man Im sorry to hear this! I hope things can have a smooth recovery!

 

We went to see and orthopedist yesterday. The good news is she won't need surgery (YEA!) but the foot is still to swollen to put in a cast (BOO!). She is wearing this bulky splint contraption for now and has a follow-up appointment next week. My boss was gracious enough to give me the whole week of (I'll go back next Tuesday).

You can see how swollen it still is.

 

Damn man. That's a bummer. Hopefully, she recovers quickly. Foot/ankle injuries suck.

 

The only thing worse is having to take care of a fussy patient. I'm actually looking forward to going back to work next week.
