Okay so if you have a 13" 600lb coil preloaded 1" and a 14" 600lb coil still also compress 1" they are the same but also not.

The 13" preloaded 1" means you have a 12" spring.

The 14" coil pre loaded 1" means you have 13" of spring.

As the block heights of most coils are not proportion to overall length this means you have more potential energy in the longer spring.

If you are shortening then our price from local shops was around 40 bucks. They cut the exsisting tube cleaned and re weld the flange seat back on then balance. If you are legthinging expect 40 bucks a foot said and done. If it has a slip yoke they will be timed or indexed when balanced.

The nice thing about manual hubs up front, if you want to build your own its doable and cheap, because it is disengauged on road.

 

A clay type cold weld called alumiweld works really good, I can a verify that personally.
It is less of a p.i.t.a then Jb weld and seems to bond better.

Yes we do, and Industrual supply, Dunlop ect. I dont do the ordering ever, i just hand over a list.

I do pick up things for myself alot though, rigging, blocks, chokers, ect. Local 86 Union Ironworker.

Yeah I used that to fill some holes in an aluminum boat. I might just but a new cover and just weld this one back together and throw it in the spare parts bin.

 

Yeah I am until it eventually dies from winching.

 

You got to be very careful how you torque the valve covers. They are very fragile.

 

Yeah I learned my lesson the hard way as you can see.

This is why I was ultra-paranoid when I did my valve covers. Bought an inch-pound torque wrench. Drew out a torque pattern for the bolts. Followed it religiously. Torqued the bolts up in three increments. Been two years now, still not a drop of oil leaking out of them.

 

What pattern did you use?

 

The one in the garage now is my dad's Suzuki Boulevard M109R. I want to get a bike but my truck and my Cobra suck my wallet dry. I want to get a supermoto style bike or even an Indian Scout-Sixty.
