Do you actually shoot them? Or do you just knock them birds out with the barrel?

How long is that barrel? 36”?

It depends which one your talking about. The longest in these is 30" so assume the 1939 Ithaca 37T (Trap)?

Being a Trap gun longer is normal. For woods grouse hunting 26" is what I normally use. For pheasants on the prairie where it is open 28" normally.

The receiver on a pump gun adds about 4" to the length compared to an Over Under. So it would be equal to a 34" O\U barrel which is common for modern day trap guns.

My Joel Etchen Guns custom trap combo is a 30" double barrel O\U and 34" single barrel so they are about the same in length.

Longer and heavier is better for clay targets. Lighter and shorter for carrying all day hunting. And depends where your hunting thick woods or open prairie. But your right for skeet something that long feels like on station 8 low you could reach up and swat the bird LOL. I might have had a grouse or 2 incoming at me over the years that I have taken a swat at

That 30” would be tough to swing in the grouse woods. I normally take my mossy 835 24” with IC choke. I need that pattern spread as far as possible!!

All my guns are cheap. I use and abuse them too much to take anything of value in the field with me.

The receiver does not make the barrel longer, just the overall length longer. I know you already know this, just fuckin' with ya. :p

Do I see some 16 gauge hulls in a few of those pics? My favorite quail gun (even though they are hard to find anymore) is a Fox model B sxs in 16 guage that I was gifted on my birthday in 1968, I was 6. Not certain of the year of manufacture. Its in 95% condition.

Yes I pretty much only shoot 16 ga. anymore even for clays. There are 3 of them in the pics I put up.

Nice! Fox's in 16 are a hot item right now especially in that condition. I hope it gets to stay in your family for a long time. The drop on the stocks of the Fox's are a bit much for me they never seem to fit me. At the price they are going for maybe that is a good thing LOL.

Yeah, I have an uncle (other side of the family) that’s been trying to buy it off me for years. He’s a sxs guy, mostly LC Smiths and Parker’s. He started showing interest several years back. I’d never sell it, however I have no children so this guy will end up with it at some point (along with his deceased Dad’s guns, mine, my Dads and my brother’s). A half ass collection. I carried him for his first deer hunt last year...

Your "Fox Model B" might be made by Savage Arms - nifty little guns and kind of under-rated - sxs snobs would say bad things but I really can only fault the gun on 1 point - weight. If I had to carry that thing all day - no thanks but on a range to shoot all day? Yes please. Do some real homework and get back to us with your findings - PM if you need help with numbers, etc.
Shells - 16ga is easy to find, you're not trying - Rem & RST make great quality shells - find a source and get shooting. If you really want to get picky - get a MEC progressive loader and design around 1 load. The 16ga.com board is your best source but I use Rem hulls/wads - primers to suit and a 7/8 oz load with filler as a target & small game load. I reload for about $7/bx - new $12 and up - save all the hulls you can.

265* for 12 hrs+/-= brisket perfect - because this is a smoking topic not gun stuff. Internal temps matter.

I “think” my gun is a true Fox, but the Savage name does ring a bell? I’ll drag it out of the safe tomorrow. It has a case coloured reciever with the “Fox and the Grapes” engraved not lasered in to the bottom. And it’s not very heavy at all. IIRC it’s only 26” barrels, left barrel (rear trigger) is full choke, right barrel (front trigger is a modified. I think this is correct,

You do realize that I care less if Ithaca introduced Catholicism to the Pope. Just because they were the importer of Perazzi's for a while doesn't mean I have to fawn all over the brand. I encourage you to quit worrying about all us Perazzi owners and how you think we look down on lower dollar amount firearms. Because quite honestly we don't.

Its not the firearm! Its the asshole behind the stock that makes all the difference.
