yes a turbo setup will get you more power easier but good luck keeping your truck reliable. You can get 330rwhp out of the supercharger relativly easily with the same mods you would have to do to a turbo setup minus the overdrive pully

Just asking...don't want to offend anyone but can you exlpain "keeping your truck reliable?" Are you saying not to do a turbo or to use a factory turbo?

Custom turbo setups seem to need a lot of TLC to keep working. Supercharger kits won't break as much (from what I understand).

If you build a turbo system right it'll last thousands and thousands of miles

with a 4cyl go with a turbo because you can make more power and its less strain on the engine(hence the motor spining the supercharger). but if you have the money, go with 1or 2JZ power. cause that would be awesome turbo all the way

I mentioned before that i suggest turbo, but I think i need to elaborate a bit. If you are 4x4 then I would definitely chose supercharger over turbo. Because, with the turbo you will have to rev up to get the turbo to spool and get any benefit from it. So if you're moving slowly in 4x4 or stuck then the turbo will be of no help.

Not true, it depends on how the kit or one off install was engineered, I have over 30,000 miles on a kit I built myself and I have been pushing 16-18psi every day and no problems once I got the engine management worked out (standalone)

So an SC is easier, but a turbo will work fine too, as long as it is sized properly, and more importantly the system is built well.

BTW Toyota had a turbo 4x4 (in the 80's), so they can work just fine...

I vote turbo. I would want it to make full boost at 3500ish rpms. I don't need all the power down low when 4 wheeling with my 4clyd. What I do need is more power when passing or going up mountain passes. I think the tuning and power curve of a turbo would be better for me.

    My .02 cents.

The exhaust on a gas powered turbo is a nightmare. had one once, pain in the ass. Lots of power though. Too much heat in the wrong places. I good idea gone bad. Unless it's intercooled forget reliability. A SC on the other hand is simple easy and it works.

Maybe not as well but the amount of tweaking it will take to get the turbo in the same spot will be expensive and problematic.
