Decided to machine one anyway ... I'll report back when it's done. Shouldn't be long.

Few more pics. Day is over, tough part is done. Final lathe op, and then engraving tomorrow.

It goes on the truck just fine ( had to file a few edges, so I'll update the 3D model), but the orientation is off .. will have to toss in a nylon washer or something to shorten the thread as well as provide a soft landing.

All finished for now. I was about to engrave the SR on it, but it still may be too heavy for me to want to keep it (it is 316SS). Perhaps I will sell it off, so it's best to leave the canvas blank for now.

    Thanks!

Future runs (definitely aluminum) will include this radius pictured below ...

I notice your model has it on there. My plastic was mangled up, so I figured it was just from wear. Wish I saw your model before I did mine. Meh, was like 10 minutes with a file to get it to fit. The other gib doesn't seem to need it, but I may put one there as well.

If enough interest is generated ... I could do a small production run. Say, 20pcs? Custom engraving options, etc ... but that feature would be limited to the tooling I have in-house. All I have for that is carbide 1/8" ball end mill or 30 and 45 degree split blank engravers. I suppose I could order specialized tooling, but that wouldn't be very cost friendly.

270g aluminum and 784g stainless. Those numbers were generated by software, so I'll have to double check.

It's looking like roughly 75 to start, for a basic knob (no engraving) 6061 aluminum.

I can't imagine stainless being that much more, my tooling still looks great after this one.

Lol, I canned the project though, didn't like it anymore especially after heat got to it and shrunk it. Just ordered a knob from speeddawg.com happy with it

Hope you like it. I thought the Speeddawg knobs were kind of large and looked like a grapefruit hanging on the shift level. Ended up buying a 6spd Camaro V6 Hurst knob and drilled it out and tapped it to M12 1.25. Overall size is 1 7/8 inches. I have an Ivory Speeddawg if anyone wants it.

Compromise. I couldn't leave it blank, but it still has some degree of mass appeal if I decide to let it go.

Yeah man, I love it, I've got big dick beaters so the knob fits my hand perfectly. I like they're pricing too, I might buy a couple different colors just to change out once I get bored of one.

Let us know if you'd be willing to do some more of these. I'd pay handsomely for a custom text aluminum one.
