I have no problem hitting what I aim at with the 74 or 47. I have more than 20 hogs that would agree. I think the "AK isn't accurate" argument is BS. But I will say the 74 is much more accurate beyond 150-200 yds. If I am shooting longer ranges than that, I am probably going for a different caliber/gun altogether.

I'd like to build one of these, but the receiver really takes the air out of the idea for me.

I don't think I'd want to put together anything that has to survive the pressure of a 7.62x54R. I think I paid about $450 for the rifle and paid Red Jacket a couple hundred to shorten the barrel. I did the pistol grip conversion myself.

    There you go again....bragin' lol.

So long as you get good quality guages and headspace accordingly, that shouldn't be an issue.
I kind of dig the thumbhole stock though.

I'm a long gun lefty, so the thumbhole didn't work too well for me. Plus, I've been an AK guy since '92, so I like having a familiar manual of arms.

Well that's a good enough excuse

Guy I know has an original barreled Romanian PSL kit. Wants $1500.
That's a tough price to swallow lol.

 Great googa mooga. I'm really glad I'm not in the market for one right now.

It's a weird time when Century WASR's cost more than an entry level AR and PSL parts kits are in the AR10 price range...

I suppose it's all relative. I'm sure some day I'll be "bragin" about how I payed $350 for a Polish AKM kit to some young feller lol.

I'm stuck between purchasing a Bulgarian Krink kit or an MP5 kit. Not too familiar with puttin one of the latter ones together though. Something different I guess.

You're in California right? OC I guessed... if not sorry for this question:
Is the AK variant of the bullet button still legal in CA?

Looks like your not too far either....SD?

Get ready for this, and I apologize in advance for the winded response.

Any long rifle that was purchased before 2017 and that required a bullet button is now considered a "bullet button assault weapon". The great minds over at the CA DOJ basically created a "new" type of assault weapon just to be able to ban it from being sold here in CA.

Any "bullet button assault rifle" that was purchased before 2017 is either going to have to be registered as an official assault weapon before July of this year and subjected to the restrictions that come with that designation or modify them so that they no longer have "evil" features (featureless). i.e., no pistol grip, no flash hider, no collapsible stock, no forward grip.

If whomever wants to keep the "evil" features on their rifle and NOT have to register, they must modify the rifle so that the feeding magazine is fixed. Meaning it cannot be removed from the rifle. This typically applies to the AR variant as it is "simply" a matter of installing a mag-lock (brand) and collapse the rifle as if you were going to clean it so that you can access the magazine install a fresh one. On the AK variant, the simplest way to make it featureless is either to remove the pistol grip or wrap it with kydex or any of the products now available so that your thumb cannot go around the grip.

Once again, I appologize for the long response and for the over use of "quotes". lol.

Also, as a disclaimer, I chose to go featureless rather than register anything with those "fine" folks over at the DOJ.

    Christ....now I need a beer.

I cannot believe that this kinda crap is actually law there. Would be great if they actually did their jobs to stop criminals, crazies, and terrorist from harming us. Nope, politicians would rather just go after the law abiding tax payer, so can justify their useless existence as public servants and look like they are actually did something. Not one of these unconstitutional laws has actually saved anybody. But, they're going after our own police now too, so who's side are they actually on? It's like they are literally promoting crime. What do they care anyway, they're all protected in gated communities with armed guards and all the police they want at their disposal. Sorry ranting, but can't stand the politics in states like California. I'll shut up now.

Oh and to add insult to injury, all these laws concerning large capacity (which are actually standard capacity magazines) and off-roster hand-guns (hand-guns not allowed to be sold here in CA and which is pretty much anything new like say a Glock 4th Gen or any Colt 1911), ammunition background checks (goes into effect in 2019, which constitutes of us paying an extra fee every time we purchase even 1 box of ammo, so do the math) these fkrs come up with, guess who is exempt from them? You got it! THEY ARE.

I want to apologize to OP in for hijacking his thread, but @hx989 triggered me with his question, lol.
Apologies all around as a matter of fact. I'm done, for now.

Something I'm interested in getting, so I can properly suppress my AK74. Adjustable gas piston system for AKs.

I bought a "sporter" years ago and converted it. Excellent rifle. Accurate and no problems with any type of ammunition.

If you feel the price is right, you won't be disappointed.

I have an AR 15 that I built to take 7.62x39 round (AK bullet for those that don’t know).

    Does that count?

Arsenal built their SGL line from saiga sporters. Can't really beat a new AK coming out of the same factory that the real ones do.

But I'm a little biased since I have a saiga lol
