Morning all :hattip:. Welcome to Kim, everyone told you about the cooler:D. Enjoy the porch. Getting tired of the cold weather, but it is warming up and by Friday they say maybe 53*. Dropped the Tacoma off for state inspection and emissions, and having them drop the differential and transfer case fluids. Beats me laying underneath doing it(I have gotten lazy in my older age ) Waiting to get the call that it's done. Hope you all have a good day.

    Morning all:
Just got back from the NEW dentist that took over the business of my old one, I think the prices went up! :(
Just lost a front tooth that needs to be fixed, partial plate $900, bridge which I really don't want ???, or an implant for $2,300 ! I'm leaning toward the implant, just need to get over the sticker shock! :annoyed: Anyone on here have an implant done, seems like the way to go anymore.
Oh, and have a broken back tooth that needs a crown to fix it properly, another $950 and he said he gave me a break!
Lets see, $3,250 to get two teeth fixed--------:deadhorse:!

 When they are drilling into the jawbone to set the base I don't think it would be a good idea to go without anesthesia, that could hurt!
When it comes to the implants I think they are all expensive, wondering if it would even pay to shop around.
I just had a filling replaced in a front tooth, first thing he mentioned was a root canal, I told him to just fill the tooth and we would go from there, so far so good. Hope this new dentist isn't going for top $$$$$$ on everything, I won't be there long!

Hey Carl, I hate dentists as well, everytime I've changed dentists (one died and my last one just retired) the new one always finds problems with what the last guy did:facepalm:. I've had root canals, bridges, caps and so many fillings that I don't think I have any of my own real teeth left. I now need to find another dentist to replace the last one that retired:frusty::goingcrazy:. Good luck with your new guy.

    Afternoon Ken!
My old go to dentist had to quit because of health issues, the next one I went to just retired, I know the feeling.
At least the guy I went to now is young, he should outlast me and by that time have a good portion of my money!:laughing:

Funny thing, the timing of all this dentist talk. I've never bothered to pay for dental insurance because I had all my cavities (a TON of them) as a kid and the insurance always cost more than my out-of-pocket costs. Lately however, as wife/I have gotten *cough*more mature*cough* the equation has flipped. So this year I signed up for it. I went in this morning for my semi-annual checkup and the dentist said "Now that you have insurance we should do a full set of X-rays instead of the partial ones we've done up to now (insurance pays 100%). And that molar you broke last year? We put a pin in it to hold it together, and it REALLY needs a crown because if it breaks again we'll have to pull it. Let's see if they'll cover it (if they do it will be at 75%)."

Well, wow. Pick jaw up off floor. WTF have I been paying cash for all this time -- bare minimum to keep my mouth healthy?

And then I thought about you all. I'm still working, picked up dental insurance from my employer (on my dime, but still it's a group plan). Do any of you have dental insurance in full retirement? How much does it cost? How much does it cover? It's not part of my retirement budget plan but I'm starting to wonder if it should be.

I don't have any dental insurance Dave, can't help you out, everything I get or need done is out of pocket expense.
My old dentist tried to keep things at a minimum, do what needs to be done. Just like I just posted, dentist suggested a root canal, I said try to fill it if you can and we'll go from there, the tooth feels fine with no sensitivity, no pain, nothing, did I really need a root canal done! :notsure:

Went to the foot doc this morning. Both toes are healed so I am good to go.

Now I am waiting for something else to go wrong.

    Next up is a colonoscopy.

Morning Dave, I have dental insurance from my stint with the UAW. When I retired and there is no cost to me, I have health, dental, eye care and hearing benefits so I can't complain. As for the dental I have $1500.00 a year for semi annual check-ups (paid in full) and the balance is left for any repairs etc. For some reason that amount doesn't go as far as it used to. The way my dentist explained it to me is he can fix a cavity for $50.00 and he submits it to the insurance company for $75.00 and the insurance company says we only cover 3/4 of the bill so he makes his money:confused:. True or not I don't know. All I know is the last few years I was getting a small bill for work done because the insurance didn't cover like it used to . I guess you can say insurances are necessary evils to keep you from paying large sums out of pocket. I'm sure I wouldn't have had half of the stuff done if I didn't have insurance. Good luck in your quest for insurance.

Glad the toes are better Tom. Good luck with the colonoscopy. Well we went from one end(dentists) to the other end :D. Hoping nothing else goes wrong for you.

TY I had a side rail installed. LOL J/K

TY I am hoping for no more problems for a while.

This week I am mentoring my son on interior painting. He is painting the built out basement in my cousins home. He is doing an exceptional job and learns the more complex aspects quickly. Now if I can help him realize that a lot of force on the brush and roller is not needed. Painting is more of a finesse thing.
