I have three words of advice.

    list, list, list

First list is everything I need on a regulat basis (staple items) dairy, juices, bread, veggies, and so on.
Second list other things like soaps, cleaners, cleaning material, trash bags, spices, baking goods, storage items, etc.
Third list meals. items that are needed to cook meals

The first two lists are usually very repeatable so they can be generated on a computer, stored, printed or transfered to a phone, keep a copy in the truck.

The Third is made up for special meals.

This worked for me and saved me a ton of money and time.

after my divorce it took me a good month or two to figure out the list.
Plus I dont care what people say, or how sexist this sounds, the grocery stores are womens turf. they have their own Etiquette and some get down right rude. But I enjoy running into those types as I make sure I block the aisles or park my cart in the middle of an aisle and walk about 10 to 15 feet away, some stand there huff and puff until you move it, Very entertaining

Strongly Disagree. Ive worked at 7 different grocery stores, and all have an equal amount of men and women shopping. Women tend to shop morning times, men after work in the evening.

if you can boil water, you can make minute rice.

1 cup of water for every cup of rice.

    Step one: boil water
    Step two: turn off burner
Step three: add rice and cover for 5 minutes
step four: add butter and franks hot sauce

I think what happens is dude gets off from work, wife is at home taking care of kids, and she calls the dude and says "hey pick up this and this and this on your way home from work". Husband comes into the store, wasnt listening to his wife, so he calls her back 4-12 times while hes in the same store, within a 3o minutes period, to ask, "What else did you say we needed?". LOL. Sometimes, when the guys is really stupid and doesnt get it, he gets send back to the store about 45 minutes after he left because he got the wrong item, and he must stand in the reject line to return the item and get the right one.

maybe thats why hes burning it, not enough water? 1 cup of rice = 2 cups of water in my recipe. Not saying you're wrong, theres many ways to tie a shoe.

It really just depends what type of stuff you want to eat.

Some of my favorites/regulars are meatloaf, clam chowder, steaks, stroganoff, and chili (stroganoff and chili are done in the crock pot). For the quick and easy, I'll do a hamburger, spaghetti, tacos, and of course a sandwhich once in a while (BLT or Reuben mostly).

Most of them are really quite easy to make and sure taste a whole lot better than the frozen or canned stuff. Granted that it will take a little longer than the premade stuff, but its worth it to me. If you'd like to try one, just let me know which ones and I'll write up my recipe. Of course there's a lot I didn't mention that I have decent recipes for as well, so dont be afraid to ask and I'm sure someone can help.
