Wheel Spacers, 1st Gen, 03 TRD

Hey guys just bought sweet 03 four door Tacoma TRD. I swear it’s a gem in the rocks, one owner, 88,000 miles and ZERO rust anywhere. I just got some factory black TRD 16” wheels that came off of a 2015 and the offset is different than the factory 03 16” wheels. In order to use I am going to need a small spacer. Looked to me like ½ or so but do not need much. Looking at he Bora .75 or the Spidertrax 1.25, both I believe are hubcentered and have great reviews. I don’t what the tires past the finders or by much anyway and I don’t want to take a risk of hurting my ride.

I have just heard so many negative things on spacers, I think because in the past they were made bad but believe they have come a long way.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated… Thanks!

 

.75" would do the trick for you, however they also cover .75" of the studs meaning you'll need longer studs. The 1.25" spidertrax spacers will push the wheels out .5" more, however they have new studs built into them as they completely cover the stock studs. The 1.25" spacers would be my recommendation.

 

If that is the case then I will definitely go with the Spiderrtrax 1.25's. Not trying to question you but if you don't mind and when you have time could you double check the below links and let me know what ya think? I am sure you have more knowledge on this matter, I'm just getting into this stuff but when I compare the two I'm seeing both have built in studs, same size? I would love to go with the smaller spacers, if the studs are good to go as is. Thanks!

You know, I didn't know Bora added the studs to their .75" spacers.
You could go that route as well, but you may need to cut your factory studs short unless the wheels you're installing have pockets on the back.
One way you can check this is by taking one wheel off and measuring the length of your factory studs. Then check the wheels for the pockets on the back and see how deep they are.
The 1.25" spacers are the most prevalent on TW and have shown to now require any modification to the studs.

Below is my Tacoma and the black TRD wheels I am planning to put on. Just don't want them sticking out to far.

 

Just for reference (best picture I could find) these are 16x8" wheels, 0mm offset, 4.5" bs with 285/75-16 tires and 1.25" spidertrax spacers on the rear. Ignore the front positioning due to the spindles.

The rear wheels sit out about .5" maybe .75", but it's also 8" wide vs the TRD wheels that are 7" wide. The change in width will pull your wheels in .5" compared to this truck.
These are also 0mm offset, so your wheels will sit in closer due to being a higher offset.
