I found out from a neutral party that the "WE CARD" fiasco at Wawa is probably not an isolated incident. When my cousin's husband was in high school, he used to work at the Wawa near his parents' house in Perkasie (a good 20-30 minutes from Doylestown). Apparently, this Wawa was busted for selling tobacco to minors. I don't know if they looked the other way and sold to someone they knew was underage, or if they didn't card somebody because they thought that person was old enough...

Either way, the Wawa got in trouble and had to pay a fine. Seemingly overnight, the Wawa in Perkasie went from being very Libertarian to carding everybody. This included regular customers who'd been buying smokes there for years. My cousin's husband said that when he'd ask to see the IDs of people who had either been coming there for years or who were obviously old enough to buy tobacco products, many of them would become angry, simply leave, and take their business elsewhere.

It makes the situation a bit more understandable, but I still think it is bullshit...

And that hoagie receipt fiasco has still got me a bit pissed off! FYI, the hoagies at Primo are so much better than the ones at Wawa anyway, and Primo is within walking distance of my work!

    Funny Aspergers story!

One notable trait of us Aspies is that we tend to dwell on shit, even the most mundane shit...

My friend Mike gets all hot and bothered when he sees a vehicle that is missing even one hubcap/wheel cover. This is whether it's in a parking lot, in someone's driveway, or while we're driving. The type of vehicle does not matter. Apparently, his parents had a couple of vehicles with hubcaps that would fall off regularly. These included a K-car, which Mike's mom says was the biggest pile of shit she ever owned, and a '95 Mercury Villager minivan that she absolutely loved. The '95 Villager was traded for a new '02 Villager after 7 years of loyal service, and the '02 didn't have the same problem with chronic hubcap loss. They did eventually get ride of the second villager when the transmission began to slip though...

Anyway, Mike will admit to anyone who asks that vehicles with missing hubcaps drive him crazy. While we were in the Poconos this past weekend, Mike spotted a black Mazda6 in a driveway in his parents' neighborhood that was missing all four hubcaps. I could tell, even from a distance, that these were just steel wheels with snow tires. I told Mike this, and that the regular wheels were probably stashed in the garage for the winter...

Is that a factory Sno Commander, or is that an aftermarket plow?

Mike also does not like 2-door cars (the exception being regular cab pickups like mine because by default he gets to ride shotgun). Why?

His mom had a 1997 Chevy Monte Carlo for the longest time. Mike's parents bought it used, super cheap, from the original owner, as a third vehicle. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the Monte Carlo, and they ended up getting rid of it because it got old, and got some body damage that would cost about a thousand bucks to fix...

After many a trip crammed into the backseat of the Monte Carlo, Mike grew to hate 2-door vehicles, so much so that he refuses to buy one when he gets his license...

Sno Commander was a factory snow plow package offered on ¾-ton (and I think 1-ton) Dodge 4x4 pickups in the 1980s. The package included the snowplow...

I've only ever seen one in person in my entire life, and it was a fixer-upper that's been sitting for about a decade...

There was an article about a Kroger grocery store somewhere in Indiana, and a senior citizen was pissed that he got carded every time he bought beer and wine...

I think we have Bad Grandpa to thank for that!

Yeah, but I'm still trying to convince him that it doesn't matter how many doors the damn thing has or how big the backseat is if he's the one driving...

Wawa is a convenience store chain founded in Pennsylvania. It has locations in Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, and New Jersey, as well as Pennsylvania...

As for WE CARD, surely you've gone into any place that sells booze and/or tobacco and seen the red and yellow signs...

Minors are so desperate to smoke and get hammered in this country that stores have resorted to asking to see everyone's ID when they buy age-restricted products, even if it means pissing off people who are obviously so far past the ages of 18 and 21 that it isn't even funny!

I am in no way condoning theft, but I kind of agree with that. Police have more important things to deal with than $20 worth of beer. I'd rather they'd bust heroin dealers and child molesters...

Aftermarket Fisher Speedcast. The factory Sno Commanders came with Meyers plows, if I'm not mistaken.
I'm actually kind of glad that it's not a factory Sno Commander, since they're incredibly rare and I'd feel horrible every time I actually used it to plow with, or drove it to work during the winter, because of the salty acid bath that our roads are around here between November and April.

It also included a heavier cooling system, cab lights, reflective stripe, larger battery, and a V8. Mine's got a Slant Six and it's just a half ton

85 when it was new, I think. If one horse has escaped the corral every year I'm down to around 50 now
I've installed an upgraded intake and carburetor on it to help it breathe a bit better, but it's still slowwww. But it's geared for torque, not acceleration. You can make an omelette in the time it takes to go 0-60, but in low range and low gear I could pull a house down because of the 64.5 to 1 ratio.

I've never actually timed it, but with the plow on and a load of counterweight in the back I'm guessing that it's probably about 20-25 seconds. Feels like forever when you're in the cab running through the gears, though. Unloaded it's probably down around 12-15 seconds.
