No. I would still have gotten the same kit I have. I like it, it’s just not practical. You can either have a fast desert truck or a truck you use for camping - not both.

I chose the fast desert which is something I really like but it’s way down on the list of things I do often.

 

I totally get that...I have heard many prefer to have an RTT mounted above their beds on the DMZ kit as it helps to soften the springs a little bit for on-road use. That being said, I fully plan to have an RTT on my bed at all times after I get the new bedrack made.

 

It does make the ride better. But keep in mind you’ll wear your springs out faster with that rtt and bed rack. I had to add my add a leaf just to keep the truck off the bumpstops.

 

We will see, from what I understand some guys have had their RTT on for years and the performance has remained true. Was yours pretty stiff when you first got your springs? The DMZ kit tends to ride rough with no load...some guys say it rides the best with two dirt bikes in the bed.

 

Exactly what giant said to me too.

But mine are custom giant 64” springs. I don’t know what dmz uses.

I couldn’t tell you if mine was rough. It was for sure. But I added weight and adjusted bypasses in the same time span to get it to ride better.

I have noticed that the shops tell you one thing and then the guys on here might tell you another. According to Tim, my rear will be butter smooth so much so that it will make me want a softer front end kit. After talking with about 5 guys on the LT thread, they all claim the DMZ rear kit is a good all around kit, but is not a soft mannered on-raod set up by any means and many cant seem to find enough weight to keep in the truck longterm to get the characteristics that Tim describes. Off-road though, they said it rides like butter.

Honestly, its partly what fueled me to get an RTT to begin with.

 

did you use any specific type of carpet? and if so, did you just cut it to fit?? Thanks

 

I got outdoor entry mats from home depot and cut them to fit.

Good ol’ old 40! Doesn’t look like you got much use out of your board there this season. But I guess that did give you a better opportunity to hit the rubicon. I have a season pass a northstar this year and haven’t used it once

 

I love that road. Nope, my brother gave it back to me after 7 years of not having it so I found a good place to mount it. The snow was terrible. We have better snow in Montana right now. I got home to 6in in the driveway. So I had to shovel. I hope to go to big sky again soon

 

Your truck looks really good with the Tan softopper! I'm in the market for a softopper for my 2017 white tacoma. Now I can't decide on black or tan. Haha, Your build is fantastic!

 

what was your experience with the KM2's? Balancing, weather conditions, road/highway etc etc?

 

Only had it as a spare. I was originally going the 255 so mounted that and trimmed my fenders. I never ran it. Just mounted for clearance. They balanced fine though.

 

dang! i thought you had them on for a minute. I am teetering on 35x12.5 or 315x70's and tire choice

 

I would choose the cheapest. They are essentially identical maybe 10th of an inch difference. My next tires will be 315's. Mainly because price and one of the tires I'm interested in don't offer 35's. I would wait man. Those km3s will be coming out soon.

 

Really? KM3's hmmm.. honestly i have done shit for research. I love the ST maxx and they come in 315's.. But those km2's always look boss.

 

Yeah i have a few tires i want next. k02's, km3s, or st maxx. I need a better snow tire out here in MT. Tons of icy roads out here and these generals don't do so well. Even wet roads suck lol.

 

honestly man I am sort of looking hard at the KO2. Just from my weight gains from going that direction would save 4lbs a tire. Huge gains IMO
