I use Citi Double Cash. Its 2 percent on everything. I think I "made" a few hundred bucks this last year.

    Edit: Oh...
"Hopefully, you’ve been enjoying your cash rewards! You’ve already earned $667.88* with this card."

Amazon is only 2% on restaurants, gas, something else...1% on all else.

What is the point in using my bank card daily when I could make cash?

Not exactly. They will send me a check, or direct deposit it, or account credit it.

Better than nothing lol. Ill make $15 when I pay my car insurance next week for example. Adds up.

Seems like a good card then.

I've applied once or twice in the past for a card, before buying a house, and always get my pee pee slapped. All of them want me to start out with a cash deposit of $300-500 for the first month and then they'll refund it. Probably because I've never had a real credit card, only dept store cards.

That is ridiculous. Probably not the case now since you have built some credit. Hell, my first card was with Citi in college and they didn't bat an eye. "Here's 8 grand, have fun!"

Yea, I never had a student card or anything like that. Mostly bought things with cash.
Also wasn't too nice to my credit score when I started down that path. My own fault.

Thats the reason i want a good rewards one. That and I need to build credit. I bought my truck when i graduated high school and it was under my parents name for insurance purposes. All the payments I made didn't do anything for credit obviously because of it. I want a good rewards card that i can use for monthly things I buy anyway (groceries & gas) that way i can pay on it monthly when i get paid and make money while doing it. Mostly to develop better credit since i've paid cash for everything else I've purchased.

Yeah its some work. Discover just emailed my about closing an account I stopped using in 2012. Going to go make a damned purchase with it just to keep it alive. Keep my credit age
Yeah its some work for sure. Discover just emailed my about closing an account I stopped using in 2012. Going to go make a damned purchase with it just to keep it alive and open. Keep my "credit age" and unused limits up to increase overall score.

Kinda funny that they want you to have more debt to have "great credit", but too much debt is "bad credit" o_O

Just available debt. Its easier to rack up a grand or two and have a good debt ratio if you have 50K worth of credit limits just sitting unused. The key is not to close your oldest one...it keeps your credit age 'older' which is good.

"Credit" is one of the biggest scams in the known world, right after the American healthcare system. It's clearly just a way to force people to put extra interest money in businesses pockets. In isolation, it would be criminal. In reality, enough businesses do it and benefit from it that everyone pretends its normal.

There is zero reason someone who has the ability to pay for everything in cash should be denied a loan. They are obviously some of the most responsible people on the planet in terms of finances to be in that situation to begin with. If I was going to loan money to someone and my options were between someone treading water in hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt, and someone who never buys what they can't afford on principle, the choice is a fucking no brainer. The difference? I'm not trying to pad my pockets.

Yeah, and they add multiple types of credit scores in, so that the company can pick the lowest score, providing a higher interest rate.

My FICO is well over 800, my other 3 are under 800, one of them under 730 which makes no sense to me, as someone who doesnt have any debt whatsoever, I pay cash for everything. (which is why I dont have a newer truck, because, not enough cash....)

I'd be willing to take out a loan for a truck, but honestly, $40-$50k for a truck is just unreal for our family.

Pretty frustrating, and yes, in isolation would be considered robbery.

Edit: And honestly, "loan sharks" got a bad rep, but honestly what is the difference between a loan shark at an unreasonable interest rate and Lowe's at 26.99?

27% interest? Are you fucking kidding me. UNACCEPTABLE.

I just took a peek at my stuff.
Been on the rise since buying the house. No credit cards at all, kinda hurts. Avg acct life is low due to only having my truck and house right now on credit, neither is over 2 years old at this point.

A small credit card would be wonderful. Probably wait til I hit 700, very close to that achievement!

I just applied for another CC, hotel rewards since when I travel for work we have to pay out of pocket then get reimbursed for lodgings. Figured I might as well rack up rewards for free.

You ain't kidding. At this point there is so much new tech shit in cars, I am kind of proud to have none of it at all, which is kind of funny being a 2007.

I did add heated seats though, but mainly for the Mrs. And Bluetooth would be amazing now that I have a phone with no fucking aux output....

I just now signed up for the Amazon one cause its too much rewards for as much as I use Amazon. I also am going to use the CITI double cash one cause it has the best rewards for cash back on stuff I'm going to use and pay off monthly (Gas, Groceries, etc.)

Bluetooth was added when I upgraded the pos Tacoma system and that's it, oh and I modified a back up camera to it for about $30. That's about as fancy as my 08 comes. I do have power windows and doors which is nice.
