You said the Icon 700# coilovers lifted the front of truck too much. Do not set any preload on the springs and will not be lifted at all. With 1.1" preload the front is lifted 2.75" from stock like mine.

When you say preload I interpret that to mean adjusting coil seats like you would do with 5100's or 6112's; Pro shocks don't have that.

I know PRO shocks are not adjustable, I had them and changed to Icons 700# coilovers.
You can adjust the height if the Icons from the top where that ring is to compress the springs. You posted that the Icons 700# coilovers were tried and the truck front was too high. Remove preload and no more lift.

    Okay, now I get it.

The truck has the factory Pro shocks on it. We tried to change his springs on the Pro shocks to compensate for the added weight which raised the front too high. While I wouldn't put it past him in the future, he want to keep the Pro shocks.

Keep the PRO shocks with added front weight? Way too soft ride.

Um...that's kinda why he started this thread lol.

For the record, I do understand that mass, dampner rates, and spring rates all affect the tuning of a proper suspension; not that I know how close to critically damped (plus or minus) you want to be or how to characterize the forcing function for modeling but I have solved a differential equation or 2 modeling the system.

Anybody thought of just going to a machinist and having them make a spacer ring for the bottom of the spring, should be the same as adding a bit of preload. Half an inch thick should work.

There are already many preload spacers out there. Most of us hate them though.

There's a guy local to me, he's on the forums, that has a lot of experience with working with suspension and revalving stuff (que the non-believers in 3...2...1...). I haven't talked to him about all the details yet but we've been discussing going with a King or Eibach #700 spring at 12". Not sure if that is the route I will take as I would MUCH rather just get the full suspension swap, but I will let this post thread know if that happens and what the end result is.

As a Pro owner running 285/85/16 tires, and a significant amount of added weight to the front of the truck, I have settled on running Kings or Icons.

I actually love the suspension, but I want more clearance, and the weight is causing sagging, and in turn, my tires are rubbing when under flex/full articulation conditions.

The stock suspension did exactly what I wanted from the truck - It allowed me to drive 70 MPH in the dessert, even jump the vehicle on accident once. I have been able to hit some difficult trails, with lots of comfort. If weight wasn't an issue, and growing into the hobby of wheeling, and having the need for more difficulty than I ever anticipated, I would HIGHLY recommend the Pro Suspension.

It's common to get hate on the forum for buying a pro, but honestly, the suspension is awesome and the other features were well worth the money, TO ME.

Have you considered running a Gambler 500?

I think I actually just found a solution, icon factory Coil-Over springs are 13” free length and 650lb rate. I just got a pair on eBay but will not be able to install in the near term.

with swapping springs, doesn't the suspension actually change a lot, and require a "Retune".

That will really depend on the amount of lift
