I dunno, how are the smog/EPA requirements in Kentucky ? I know that I sure as hell would do my homework before getting rid of or altering the CATS seeing how its all so integrated into the onboard (emissions, smog laws etc;) CPU due to EPA standards, I mean do you have to smog it every couple of years in order to register it like we have to do here in SoCal ??........

If I were you, I would get the Dough Thorely's, keep the cats and match it all up with a Dynomax super turbo muffler.

SAW 2.0 Coilovers, Wheeler's 3-leaf AAL, Toytec 1" lift shackles, Bilstein 5100 rear shocks, aFE Stg. 2 intake, Doug Thorley headers, Magnaflow muffler, 16x8 ProComp 7089 wheels, Toyo Open Country A/T tires, Pamalu bedliner, Bakflip G2 bedcover
My intake/exhaust setup is an aFE Stage2 intake, Doug Thorley headers, stock cat and midpipe, 5x8x24" Magnaflow muffler and dumps right after the axle. When I go WOT it screams and truck gets up and goes! I did notice a slight loss in low end torque but I gained a bit in the mid to high RPM.

At idle it has a really deep sound which I love and it not loud until you get on it. I've never heard a better setup other than my cousin's 02 4Runner which has a K&N FIPK, TRD headers and TRD catback. His sounds almost like a V8 at idle and has a really deep and throaty tone on acceleration but it is never loud or obnoxious. My setup can get a little irritating on long inclines because it drones.

URD should have them. And I did TRD Headers but they dont make them anymore, But the Dough Thorley's the next best thing. And a magnaflow or Dynomax muffler are the two mufflers I would match up with headers. Ive heard that others sound too ricey, or buzzy. I had a Gibson and it sounded like crap with my headers.

And I wouldnt go crazy with the cats, bc our truck like some back pressure and you may just loose some power by doing so. Keep the cats man!

I got a flowmaster, it sounds pretty good. Not loud at all.

But OP, id recomend a Borla exhuast. Very high quality. Maybe 2.5" piping. Doug thourley headers, or TRD headers if u can find them.

    Leave the CATS

ive got the flowmaster super 10 series, i searched high and low for an exhaust system that wouldnt make it sound like a ricer and this flowmasters sound great. if you want loud and all around sexy and you want to sound like your running a V8 they are the thing to get if you want quite with no internal resonance then this is not for you.
