I just had some 285/70/17 Falken Wildpeaks installed with some American Outlaw Rims. I also have Bilstein 5100's in the front at the 3rd notch, and as of right now I have experienced no rubbing. Rides a lot smoother that I thought it would too!

After 5 tanks of mixed driving I’ve averaged 18.7 MPG with 245/75R16 in the 10-ply E rated.

I’m actually pretty darn impressed with this number!

I just got these tires a couple days ago, so far super unhappy. Anyone else get steering wheel / truck vibration with these 50mph and above? These are my first set of AT tires on this truck so I'm not 100% sure if that is a normal characteristic of AT tires or just all around bad tires. I have tried road force balancing them 2 times now, and various tire pressures. no dice.. I have the SL load rated. Sucks because i really like the look of this tire...

Sorry to hear this. The set I recently put on was very easy to balance.

damn. your problem possibly not your tires bro, if you do have aftermarket wheels do you have hub centric rings?
if you did have them before changing tires there's a chance tire shop tech might of forgotten to put back on.

No hub-centric rings, i just put brand new scs wheels and these falkens on the truck at the same time, so unless the wheels are out of round its definitely the tires.. :/

try swapping front to back see how that goes, and while you at it inspect top & sidewalls of each tires. perhaps a defective tire with bubbles

It could just be a bad tire, it happens when things are mass produced. Can’t expect every tire to be perfect. Let’s see how falken handles it, that will be the real test.

@Discount Tire Direct sorry if it’s been asked before but any chance Falken will make these in a 255/80/17?

Getting them mounted meow. Would have pics but fedex sent my Bajakit A-arms to Ohio instead of Alameda, CA. So waiting for them to show after their cross country road trip....

5100's all around, OME 887 with 1/4" spacer, icon 3 leaf aal. 255/75/17 BFG KM's on 4runner pro's. Rigid led pods. Debadged and tinted.
Hey everyone. I've read damn near all 140 pages of this thread. So what's the consensus on the initial wear issues? Was it due to the "bad batch" that Falken pulled and attempted to destroy? It seems like the SL guys are reporting much better wear now, with just a few still burning through tread.

I'm between these, the Toyo at2 and Nitto ridge grapplers. The ridge grapplers come in a "C" load, but they are good awfully heavy.

    I’m averaging 18 w/ my 10-ply’s getting pushed around by a 4.0 6-speed MT.

Sorry, we are not aware of a 255/80R-17 at this time.

I apologize you are having a balance issue with your tires. If you purchased them at a local store I would recommend going back and speaking to the Manager for a solution. If you purchased them from Discount Tire Direct please send us a PM with your information so we can help.

Yeah i got them local, sorted everything out today after work, ended up going with a different brand tire (Bridgestone) and it solved the issue 100%. Truck drives amazing now. Not a fan of the Falken's after my experience this week lol

Glad you got it worked out. I ended up with a similar issue on my Subaru. Ended up being an expensive Goodyear that was out of round/defective. It sucks, but it happens once in a while.
