Updating the nav?

just wondering about updating the navigation.. my understanding is you just buy a sim card or whatever and insert it into the head unit.. just wondering if this is correct, how do you know when an update is available, and if so where’s do you purchase ?

So our trucks don't have lifetime maps for free?....

 

No, I believe just 1 year then must be purchased going forward. Most people don't buy new maps every year as Not a lot of changes in one year. Dont have to buy at all if dont need updated maps. Ill probably wait a couple years before i update.

Also why many use nav on phones, etc. instead now.

You can buy the OE185 card new on eBay for $135. I bought OE184 last year, and probably will not update again until OE186 or OE187 comes out.

 

Is the 185 the newest? They make one every year?

 

I just bought a 2018 so I prob have the oe185... or at least I’d think I would

 

Double check it... I've heard of some coming with the older version.... If it's NOT 185, then get the dealer to give you a new SD card...!

Just pull out your SD card... Bottom right corner of head unit..!

 

The navigation is so bad.... you're a brave one.
