So I have an issue with my transmission.

At idle you can hear the ticking or clacking noise. The sound and frequency is similar to a diesel truck - imagine if you took a playing card and put it in the spoke of your bicycle tire and magnified the sound 25x. That is what this noise sounds like.

The clicking or clacking speeds up with the speed of the truck and levels out at idle, much like a Diesel engine would sound like but at a higher pitch.

The sound is definitely coming from the bellhousing, I suspect the torque converter. Any ideas as to what it can be?

It's unbearably annoying. And I'm afraid I'm messing something up.

Pull off the inspection plate and take a look at the flexplate. It's possible that it has a crack in it. Does it sound anything like this?

Aw shit, it kind of does sound like that. I took the flex plate off to replace the rear main seal and torqued the bolts down to spec but I did not see any cracks. I'll have to remove the inspection cover to find out.

Mine doesnt have a sound that improves with the truck goes in park though. It still continues regardless of Gear

Hmm not sure what else it could be. Might be an issue with the torque converter also. Best bet would be just to poke around and see if there's any visual or obvious damage.

Yeah man no problem. Hope it's nothing major, but if it is, well you're definitely well versed in transmission installation/removal haha. Good luck.

Spin the torque converter/flex plate? Only way I can think of how to do that is spinning the crankshaft bolt on the engine

Yeah, spin the crank. Just need to check if its rubbing on something or maybe you forgot to bolt the torque converter to the flex plate.

    ROAD FORCE BALANCE
I started having a vibration right above 40mph to 50mph. Truck has fairly new Good Year Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure with Kevlar 265/70R 16 (no lift). Got a rotate and balance which did not help at all. They rotated front to back and this actually seemed to make it worse. I was starting to think I may need new universal joints (carrier bearing new).
Took it back and they did a Road Force Balance and problem cured! One of the tires in the back was the culprit. I wasn't familiar with the term "Road Force Balance" but the mechanic said that it simulates actual driving condition (weight of the vehicle, etc).
Thought I'd pass this along in case you have a vibration issue.
