I was going to get the off road but since I'm mainly highway miles the mpg really mattered and swayed me to the sport. Just go with whatever makes sense not what others have or think.

I'd be more concerned about whether I'd need an access cab or double cab, short bed or long bed.

Double cab, Short bed I need to grab samples for my job sometimes and when I camp I'm use to cramming stuff into my CRV so the 5 ft bed is more than enough. My friends come with me to the trails and stuff so a double cab works best.

I'd get an off road then. Makes more sense with that configuration.

Totally agree & that's why I bought OR but I didn't get the feel from OP he's planning for a lot of techy trail work

I'm not, rock climbing is scary to me but i do drive on some trails that are bumpy with rocks on it nothing like climbing up a side of a rock or a steep hill with large amount of rocks. But you can also use crawl control for deep snow if I get stuck and sand so that is an option.

All in All I think that the OR will be a greater choice I'm confident when I buy in Late feb - mid april I will be able to get a OR for 32-34K and if a Sport is there for 30K or a bit lower i wont be complaining either. But if I get a 2017 I got to get the Offroad it just makes sense...

Honestly, I would just get an SR or SR5, and get it for even cheaper. It will handle everything you can throw at it just fine.

I have considered the other options but something with the TRDs just pull me in price is a issue to a certain extent. I just hate how the dealerships around my area are listing trucks above MSRP and their "Incentives" just make the truck's price at MSRP.

The Off Road and the Sport are exactly the same price, I think you get more for your money in the Off Road. With your budget you should probably be looking for a leftover 17.

This is my TRD OR AC. After some patience I was able to find an even swap for my hood. They wanted the flat hood and I got the awesome skewp :D didn't cost anything, and we're both happy!

unless you do serious off roading you cant go wrong with either offroad or sport.
i was going to go with the O R but wife like the skewp so we got the sport package.

Thank you all for your input, I managed to close the deal on a 2017 Taco TRD OR, and I love it!

managed to grab it for under my budget. It was a long battle but I ended up getting it for 31,700 which was good for me.

Went with Super white because it was the only color that i really liked within 40 miles of my area.

Again Thank you all so much!

I was torn between 17 and 18 also, but ended up with the 18 since they only had the quicksand tacoma in a 80 mile radius was in 18. I also like the grille and additional safety feature the 18 has. I got mine for 39k which was the middle of the asking range in my area for 18, but mine came with film protectors on side mirrors, inside door handles, stainless steel exhaust tip (which I didn't care for), and some other small stuff dealership put on. I had a trade in, and I know that dealerships like to pump numbers on the asking price (distributor RSP instead of MSRP) so it can look better on their record books when they report it. At first they wanted 10k for my trade in (trade in prices were around 11-13k, but mine had some problems with the locks and windows) I told them I will pay for the distributor asking price and not a dime more since they added stuff to it if they pay me more for my trade-in. After back and forth, they paid 14.5k for my truck, free window tints on my front windows (the back came with privacy glass; not sure if it comes from manufacturer like that or was added on), discount on the Xpel film for front end (half off to be exact including installation), and I told them to beat my pre-approved loan (they get a small percentage from bank when you go thru them so they are willing to do it) which they did lower my interest rate to whole percent lower.

NICE! you beat them harder then I did! I went back and forth on price with them and ended with 0.9% financing so effectively i get the truck financed with less than 500 in interest which is pretty sweet if you ask me. my mods will have to be blackout lettering for the badges and then maybe a 18 grille because i like the way it looks nothing much to be done with this truck yet until warranty runs out that is!

I wished I had low financing like yours lol. I probably would have gotten near that if I waited a whole month (had my identity stolen so was in a middle of dispute), but I couldn't wait and my credit score was still high even with the ding. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you get your Taco for?

I chose 2017 TRD Offroad (lower price now) solely on saving approx 3k Cnd. I'm glad I waited.

    P.S. I traded in my 2009 CRV
