Can anybody tell me the gap between the front reservoir bracket and the frame? Curious if it will fit over my bumper reinforcement bracket...

    Screenshot_20171226-145827.jpg

Another question is, what is going to be the difference between a 14" spring on lets say 650 coils, as opposed to a 13" one? I know they will need less preload, but will it be stiffer? Looking to achieve maximum height, but very comfortable on road as well. Going with adjusters as well.

The resi bracket will rub against that bolt that is holding the bumper.

Also I have the 14" springs on 650 spring rates. Not stiff at all and I have the adjusters too.

    I just finished installing:

    1) FRONT ---- 600lb/in 2.5" King extended travel coilovers (w/resi) coupled with ICON tubular UCA & delta joint + ECGS bushing + wheelers superbumps
    2) REAR ----- 2.5" King shocks (w/ resi) rear coupled with Deaver u402 stage 1 leaf pack. + Timbren Active Off-road bumpstops w/ U-bolt fliip kit. Otherwise bone stock truck with no extra armor and empty bed.

    Here are my observations:

    • To gain more ride height, I added lots of extra preload over factory setting and am getting the pronounced "clunk" over low speed, abrupt bumps. I realize this is not recommended or ideal, so no need to try to educate me
    • To find the balance between ride height (aesthetics) and function (down travel, smoothness, correct geometry), I will be lowering the front coils until this clunking goes away
    • MUST use penetrating oil to adjust the coilovers (with front lifted & wheel removed)
    • Buying the King T-handle is well worth the extra coin. The curvature and design allows you to get around the stubborn part of every collar rotation where the allen bolt takes up an adjustment hole
    • The lift the Deaver expedition u402 stage 1 leaf pack is identical to a Dakar leaf pack (height/lift-wise). There is NO squeaking from the leaf pack.
    • I did the ECGS bushing swap (PIA job) as a preventative measure and am getting no driveline vibrations
    • I have done NO driveline angle modifications/adjustments and am NOT experiencing any vibrations post alignment
    • The OEM rear brake lines seem to have enough slack not to warrant replacement
These things look sweet and I can tell they're miles ahead of the OEM TRD OR suspension they replaced. Once I find the balance between pre-load and ride height, I know i'll be a super happy camper.

Did you make sure to check your rear brake lengths with the rear flexed? I’m sure that’s when it’ll be close. Everywhere I see it’s +4” rear brake lines for Dakar’s so I feel like it’d be closer to that

Should have my extended 2.5 Kings (front and rear) along with my Dakar leaf packs in my hands middle of next week. Saying I’m excited to have them in my hands doesn’t even begin to describe how I’ll feel when next week rolls around.

I’ll be upgrading from my Fox stage 1 so it’ll be a considerable upgrade. I had the fronts built with 650# springs to accommodate for added weight in the future.

I’ve got to order an ECGS bushing and extended brake lines for peace of mind then i can install it all in one sitting.

Edit: Big shout out to @Downsouth Motorsports for all the help. Great people to deal with!

Anyone in Orange county have a t-handle shock adjuster I can buy or borrow. I need to adjust my king shocks this sunday but wasn't able to leave work on time to make it to the Kings factory in Garden Grove.

Extended travel fronts showed up today along with my Dakars and the bushing kit for them. All I can say is wow these things are impressive. They feel like a much higher quality than my current Fox kit.

Yep I definitely did haha. Took right at 6 weeks to build I believe.

The rears were in stock and just had to be modified to work with Dakar leaf packs. They shipped the same day I ordered them.

I ordered the front's from AutoAnything for $1,301. Rears too, but found out they couldn't buy them extended so had to cancel. Ended up going to DownSouth and got them for $751 and they did the extra 1". Wish I would have ordered the rears through them initially so I could have saved a little money. Rear's are on there way now. Dakar's just ordered from LowRange. And SPC UCA's through SummitRacing.

Ahh I gotcha. I got all my stuff (minus my SPC UCAs that are already installed) from DownSouth. $1290 for the fronts and approx. $780 for the rears.

Haha we about came out the same. Ha you'll be pissed when you hear about the deal I just got on my SPC's. Haha I'll definitely be messaging you. We have literally the same exact lift! I'll be installing mine next month when I get back from my deployment.

Oh, I thought you might be comparing Fox's 2.5" front, 2" RR. I bet those kings blow away Fox's 2.0 setup for sure.

Has anyone notice how the ride quality is going from the factory set 2" to 3" height. Kings rep told me not to go pass 2 1/2 inches for the best on and off road use.

There’s nothing wrong with the fox 2.0’s honestly, I just wanted some better performance off road.

I’m sure the difference is going to be night and day. I’m really looking forward to testing these out.

Hey Guys considering Kings and had a couple questions for my 3rd gen.

    1. Do you need a spring compressor to adjust lift height with these coilovers?
    2. I have a ALL and have the factory overload spring in, may plan on getting dakars and hear the king rear shocks are generally too short (king says 1.5 lift max), anyone having issues or running different rears?

@Photocycler - I just installed front coilovers yesterday and adjusted them while mounted. Little bit tricky when the reservoir hose gets in the way of the punch holes, but some one on here described a way to cut a 5/16ths tapered punch that can be tapped with a hammer and bar to help rotate the adjustment collar. I have not used the King spanner wrench yet, but it might be another consideration if you plan on fine tuning your coilovers once they're mounted.

New suspension makes it look like I skipped leg day...
