Anybody here use KYB Gas-a-just shocks? Im thinking about them for the 97 4x4. Always had a great ride in my other vehicles/trucks.. Right now they have a great deal going on where you buy 3 get one free.. So a complete set for my truck would run me about 200 smackeroos..

A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
Everyone here will tell you to check out Bilstein. I run on Bilstein's so I vote you check out the 5100's, 5100 adjustables and/or 5125's.

KYB's are a great shock, I think they were the first gas charged shock absorber on the market, Bilstein came a little later but to answer your question if you found a good sale on the KYB's I wouldn't be afraid to get them in leu of the Bilsteins. KYB is Bilsteins equal for the most part in performance all things being equal, well established company .....:D

About 10 years ago my dad put KYB gas a just shocks on his 95 4Runner and they rode solid and today they still do, and they still don't leak. I would not hesitate to buy KYB for OE replacement shocks.

I have an 09 Tacoma Trd sport. Mostly daily driver. I tow a small camper a few times a year. I had the billstines that Toyota put on when the frame was replaced. The bilstines rusted so badly that fluid was coming out of one of them. I thought the truck rode really jerky with them and tipped slightly on corners. I installed KYB gas adjusts ( mechanic recommend) wow! It rides smooth and corners like a sports car. I guess I'm sold on kyb's!

theres a strong bias for billies here, but as goes everything else in the first gen and ultimately TW forum. Youll do fine with the kybs if it fits your budget more
