    Or rev and clutch drop for you MT guys like me and honestly you need a torque bar as well because the axle wrap is pretty significant trying that move without one

    That bog that @Glenn_R and I both experience also happens with brake torquing up to about 1500rpm.

    I drive this truck like an old lady usually and it took me almost a year of ownership to discover this issue. Now - is it Toyota's ECU calibration or a result of wide and heavy (285/75/16 10 ply) tires? I will follow up with Toyota to see if they can diagnose/resolve on their side but if it gets resolved through Mat's tune I'll be happy.

    That seems to be a simple code:

    Throttle 0 ------> 100%
    PI 100% ------> 0%
    DI 0 ------> 100%

    Or did I get that backwards?

    But then there's the timing issue. DI is near instantaneous, yes? Where as PI is one cycle off? Maybe I'm talking out my arse here, and it's much more complicated than I think. Nah... maybe the arse thing, but I can't believe it's that complicated.

    Drivetrain is Toyota's 'goto' literature when you talk reliability. It's never overpowered, usually slightly underpowered, but generally outlasts the rest of the vehicle. One of the guys in the BlueRoom just quoted something like 350k miles on his FJ. Mine had 190k with zero engine issues. An alternator at 150k was all.

    Great minds think alike sir! Did you order the budbuilt one or end up going a different route? I did the weld on budbuilt model and have been very happy so far

    Yeah ive been really happy with mine. Theres just a tiny hint of a rumble strip like vibration if I have multiple people in the cab and floor it that wasnt there before, but nowhere near as bad as some other vehicles ive ridden in with this sort of chassis reinforcement.

    this is good timing for me. i'm approaching 24k and the rear has loosened just enough to get the start of those issues, and my driving style certainly isn't helping... i'm having to constantly back off the throttle. looking forward to getting this on w/in a month or so, probably about the time or just after the next OV is released.

    I have been waiting to hear back from @OVTune since early December about a new dongle. I haven't posted at all in regards to it until now.

    My first dongle didn't work at all. I got it mid November and haven't even been able to install it.

    I emailed two or three times in December and once this month.

    This is what I was getting at. Actually doing the opposite of rushing the man, like most. It was probably 750-1000 miles that I clearly noticed changes. Just guessing based on how many times I remember filling the gas tank.

    In progress.... And getting better!
    I’ve got 200 miles on 1.02A 87 octane but running 91. So amazed at how much better this truck runs. I especially like how using the ECT feature has an actual effect on the shifting. Very much looking forward to running the 91 octane tune.

    I wanted to write a quick review after some time, and also share a story with you all.

    So after about 600kms, it's running beautifully, however you can feel some of the learning still going on. However, it is night and day compared to before... and this story will hopefully shed some light for you all.

    About 8 months ago, I had my dealer do the transmission shift tsb. I wasn't able to pick it up that day, so I had my mom's bf pick it up for me on his way home from work. When we saw each other next, he told me how terrible it was to drive, and how he got scared a few times because the truck didn't behave like anything he'd driven before. He said he nearly got into an accident merging on to a highway! LOL. I explained that that was what these trucks are like. Fast forward to today (1.02C 91 octane), when I offered to let him drive it home from the lumber yard. He backs out of the parking stall, puts it in drive, steps on the gas... and said "woah... that's better". It literally was night and day for him. He said he could actually drive this truck the way it is now.

    Well worth the price of admission.:woot:

    I feel for you. I'm sure it's worth the time, but I just made one of those trips to Japan and the Philippines from Nashville back in December and 14-16hrs in a plane requires a lot of patience and "zen!" I do hope you'll post some pics of your work there when you can get back to non-censored internet on your return!

    I have been considering OVTune for a while for the AT and I'm just wondering if the learning has been disabled yet or is it still being worked on?

    We had some ice on Friday evening so didn't get as much miles logged this past weekend as I would have liked but damn I am enjoying the heck out of the tune still. Power delivery is feeling smoother and smoother all the time and I'm not seeing a lot of degradation in the shifting at all even though I know Mat is still perfecting the torque learning element. Yesterday I had my wife in the truck as we were out running errands - out of the two of us, she is oddly the risk taker on the highway and I'm a bit more reserved normally. I save my risk taking for offroad and in my whitewater boats :)

    Yesterday we were merging onto the freeway and I floored it (something I rarely do) and the smoothness of acceleration up to 70mph was very satisfying without that common bog (rich) to jerky bolt (timing catching up?) and passing was so much easier. Esp. when you can often pass in 5th without dropping to 3rd or 4th. She kept commenting on how much more aggressively I am driving me truck (and she likes that...) over the last few days so I explained the test tune to her and all.

    I just keep coming back to the refinements in this test tune version. Things just feel "right." I don't know how else to put it. The truck never feels like its struggling and it is smooth. It doesn't feel like it's being stretched beyond what's safe for the drivetrain, and with some of the tune versions I actually felt like it was somewhat wound up at times. None of that with 1.03test. With the prior tune versions I've run while they are all leaps and bounds above stock, you could still tell it was an aftermarket tune in my mind. With what I'm running now it just feels more and more like a very well thought-out OEM tune Toyota should have shipped these bad boys with.

    Will keep you updated if anything changes, but for now I'm just as excited as everyone else to see what the final looks like if what I'm running is still a work in progress - it feels more complete than anything else I've run frankly.
