2017 DCSB is SAGGING and I NEED HELP

I have a 2017 DCSB that I have added a Leer 100XR and a "Decked" Storage Drawer Unit to the Bed. I swear it looks like the back end has settled about an 1-1/2" and the front and rear are now level.

I have not even loaded my tools into the "Decked" Unit yet. I know I will have to get an AAL or Sumo Springs? I want to add camping gear and a RTT to the back too.

Whats your suggestions or recommendations? What will work? I don't want a suspension lift.

 

The Sumo springs work well. That should limit the squat without adding a lift. I've done that along with the Icon progressive AAL.

 

I'm no expert, but the Taco springs are weak....if you are going to carry all that weight, you'll have to do something for sure.
In my 2006, I took it to a spring place and they added an extra leaf and "straightened" the OEM's.... Truck drove way better after that; however, I did not carry a heavy load all the time.

Depending on the weight you plan to carry all the time, you night have to replace the springs with a new pkg. and maybe add air bags..?? I had air bags back in '74, in my Chebby..... worked great....

When I needed the extra, I just added air from an on-board tank.... Today I'd do an on-board compressor....!

 

Wheelers 5 leaf HD pack maybe? Or something similar? I don’t know much about it other than their description on the website. It says there is some lift but doesn’t say how much. Might be better in the long run than the AAL, just more $$$. But that’s a lot of extra weight after the tent and all your gear is in there.

 

If your leaving that stuff on for good, I would go add a leaf or better leaf springs

Sounds like with similar weight to your cap and empty decked drawers(200lbs?) he was around 1.25 lift. That should keep you at stock height or just above (maybe an inch?) when fully loaded. Sounds like a good option.

Yup, a plug but an honest one: I added a single leaf and it fixed my loading sag, but call Headstrong off-road for your best answer to your specific needs.

 

Go with what Over60 said and go with air bags, that way you can easily adjust for various loads.

 

A good suggestion but airbags that bolt on both ends limit your differential movement, particularly when off-road flexing, so you have to consider that too -I tow a trailer but also off-road, so I went with a Dakar set instead . Really suggest talking with Marie at Headstrong off-road about it.

 

I have an ARE CXHD on My 2017 with a rhinorack on top of it. It weighs every bit of 250lbs. With a few things in the back my springs were almost bottomed out and It bounced like a trampoline. I installed a $200 "open box special" firestone airbag kit back there (pita). Didn't want to screw with a new spring pack until i'm at least past My 25k mile warranty period. The air bags do a good job and the ride/stance is back to normal with about 25psi.

 

sumo springs work well, but thats a lot of weight. i have a cap, prinsu and custom drawers at around 350 lbs. you may want a custom leaf pack from alcan or something.

 

I agree...if it's permanent weight...then you need a permanent fix...!

Beefier springs for sure..... If you add/remove a lot of weight.... Consider air bags..!!

I may have 150# worth of tools, 200# of camping gear and 145# for the RTT. The tent I plan to leave on as well as the tools in the "decked" unit. I won't off road except occasionally a gravel road during my Alaska and Canada Trip over a 60 day period. I'm getting the idea I may have re-work the spring pack and do Air Bags?

 

YOU DEFINITELY NEED A HEAVY DUTY LEAF PACK

 

sorry not yelling, but that is a ton of weight, almost literally

 

If you're going to change the rear springs I recommend replacing the entire suspension and lifting all at the same time. I've got OME on mine and the Dakars are way better and flex far less.
