Fortunately, I've had good luck with the building officials in my career. With that said though, the fact that the building official has that much authority to either turn a blind eye or pretty much pick and choose what he wants to enforce just strengthens my position that building inspections are a crock of shit and not worth the cost of the paper they're written on. It's all just a game of dick measuring and a money grab. /rant

 

Hope nobody gets this shit...

 

Speaking of treacherous, I saw a news report on TV about Tennessee getting a "treacherous snow storm". They're expecting 2"

 

Tennessee regards all snow as being full of treachery. It's why they don't trust us Yankees

 

I have never personally pissed anyone off that I am aware of, but the same can't be said for my clients. The best part about all these town officials: I have to change and rework designs to meet their requests, and if there is a problem down the line or something fails because they wouldn't approve a design without their input, there is no recourse for suing them.

Dealt with a zoning enforcement officer who told me that certain criteria needed to be met before they could grant a special permit. Spent a few days reworking a whole site design to meet what they were looking for and finally got it approved. Come to find out after the foundation had been poured that he was speaking out of his ass and the changes were not necessary (always hire a good attorney to fight Towns), and all he did was shrug his shoulders and move along.

This is going to be a long weekend.

I have an 11 yr old dog that is passing and my wife was coming to vist.
(Yes we're separated)
Then my son gets sideswipped and she's in the the hospital, not major according to Son
Son and granddaughter are ok but I'm caught between heading to the wife or helpings dog pass.
Her phone is not being picked up.

Even all this I'm glad I don't live in Montecio.

Remember things could be worse.

 

For us down here in western CT, the temp drop is supposed to move in during the early morning 7 - 8:30

When I lived in VA, a couple inches of snow was pretty treacherous. They had no means to clear it, no salt and no sand. It would get warm during the day, melt, then freeze overnight and the roads were a skating rink. The worst (or longest stretch of untreated) black ice i’ve ever encountered was down there believe it or not. We have much worse winters but at least we’re prepared for it.

Done! Just got home, free 60 mph truck wash. Traffic was light also so I really got to take advantage of the high pressure rinse.
