Do you have 4.5 or 3.5 backspacing? I’m on 16x8 with 4.5 backspacing right now and an considering 295/75R16 for my next set of tires.

went to toyota today for cv axles, lower ball joints and steering rack also outer tie rods. the steering rack alone was $800 and cv axles would be $500 each. but i didnt have the vin number so it could of been cheaper then that for the cv axles. think i'll just go with gunny lol

This valve-adjustment conversation is interesting. I remember commenting to someone about having that done on my 4WD 2000 2.7L and the response was something like, "You don't have to do that with those..." I am not sure if it was because I only at 102,000 miles, or what. I do know that with my prior 3 Tacomas, every so often that is exactly what got done: new plugs and a valve adjustment, and it always ran like new for a couple of years with only oil changes to think about and the odd O2 Sensor, or, in those older models, a timing belt (usually only one time).

You should be able to get an OEM steering rack for around $550 online.

CVs check our CVJ remans. They reman only OEM axle and can add high-angle boots. Been very happy with mine the last two years.

 

Finished painting the trim on the corners and installed the grille. Makes me really dislike the stock front bumper now. Truck is still dirty from the last trip too.

 

The Trim & Grill color gives it a nice accent.

 

Out with the old and in with the used. So far the truck ran pretty well with the new throttle body. It responded better then before. Tranny shift was right on and no stall when I pushed it to fast and slow. All different speeds. Came to a stop and it idled nice. So far so good. I’ll give it a few more days. Hopefully my issue is fixed.

For the 2.7 there are different thinkness of shims for the valve adjustment. Those really don't need to be changed. They last a pretty long time. I've attemped it once at 210,000 miles and it really didn't need it. I measured all of them and they where all within spec. So I would really reconsider doing it. But it's your truck. Good luck.

So just got done reading your other thread. You're pretty sure it was the flex plate?

 

Called about 6 different shops. Everyone I told my story to told me it was the flexplate. I'm pretty sure it is too because it won't start anymore, you can hear the starter grinding

 

Shit that really sucks. I listened to the audio you posted and it definitely sounded like the flex plate to me. But then again in my experience usually the flex plate will just crack and make noise until the crack spreads all the way around it, in which case the truck just stops moving. Hopefully it is just the flex plate and not the torque converter or the whole transmission itself.
