Went to a place in Maggie Valley NC called Butts On The Creek a couple years back, was pretty darn good. What's funny is wife and I were talking about BBQ Restaurants last week when discussing restaurants around us. She said BBQ restaurants don't really matter anymore, our stuff at home is better. :)

Haha I figured that would inspire a comment from someone. We all like what we like right? What a boring world it would be if everyone liked the same thing. And, although I don’t like Smithfield’s vinegary pulled pork, the chicken fingers are amazing.

Figured I'd run this contest plan by you all.

Here in the next few days, I'll solicit entries from anyone that has purchased and used our rub. The entry will require you to e-mail a picture of something you cooked with Meat Massage. The shaker or pouch will have to be present in the picture in order for it to qualify. The entry phase of the contest will last for somewhere around 2-3 weeks.

I'll then make a photo album on Facebook with all of the entries (possible that I will cap the number of entries at a certain number) and a description in each dish's caption. Each will be numbered as well.

Votes will be made by commenting on the contest post with the # of the entry that you wish to vote for. If you like our page, then your vote will count for double (or triple). Folks will be able to link or share the post to their walls and encourage voting (that's the point!). The person with the most votes will win the main prize pack (it'll be pretty sweet!). Second and third will get a little something, too.

I've looked at hosting something on our website, but I can't seem to get everything together and the functionality the way I want it. It just keeps turning out messy. On top of that, it would have to run concurrent with Facebook anyways as I want to drive traffic there. You can purchase from our Facebook page as well, anyways.

    Thoughts?

    Thoughts.... I'm in :dancingbacon:

Can you do polls on FB? I'm not a frequenter of it beyond casual scrolling.

    Limited to one entry/pic?

Can I Photoshop a bottle of PF into this pic and win?

    pit-rr.jpg

Ok, last one I think I know the answer

You will find several TW peps that don't FB. I think you should continue as planned with FB as that is business smart. However, do a new thread on here with a poll for TW votes. Then figure out if you will add the votes from here to there or what.

One potential issue with counting TW votes is that an astute Facebook observer might see that Facebook votes show one winner, but the announced winner is someone different.

Maybe I'll just do both?!?! Biggest prize will reside on Facebook, but a pretty nice prize pack put together for a TW exclusive contest as well?!?!

Combining might be a bad idea for reasons you mentioned. But if you're willing to do both to include TW as a separate deal then . Good on you. It's all for exposure and brand building and coming out of y'all's pocket. Where just here for the ride and support. And the rub off course

So us on TW all win and we are all getting prize packs? WOW that's really nice of you.

Seriously though, FB is the best business move that's where you need to cater to. I would think TW is just as popular as FB but then if you ask my wife she will tell you that I've been wrong before. (She will probably tell you often wrong lol)

Depends on your preference. The flavors work really well with it, but some people prefer savory for beef over sweet. The sugars make a great bark, though!

For what it is worth, a savory rub is in the lab, it just hasn't been perfected, yet :).

I just went back and read the proposed idea. One doesn't technically have to be on FB to participate. Just email your photos to him. They could still be included, you just wouldn't be able to share and pander for votes for your pictures. For the record, I don't FB either.

I've only ever done SPOG before, so we might as well try something different!

Right on. I only ask because of the pig theme. I wasn't sure if it was intended to go with beef or not.

All good. Was just poking fun. A lot of us have put it on almost everything. Works good as an all purpose seasoning too :D

I used the regular on my first brisket (flat or point, don’t remember which one) and it was very good. The pics are shitty but the flavor was great
