You know, at first I took this as a crummy answer. I gave it a try, and it didn't work. Tried again, figuring what the hell... I can replace something if it breaks. BAM! popped right out. Thank you, @mesojdm!

I really wish Toyota offered a “titanium” or “black optic” package like the Euro car manufacturers. My Audi barely has any chrome at all from the factory. I have not the patience to apply to removing the plethora of chrome from inside my tacoma, but I would happily pay more for it to not be there. Say if a certain tacoma world member offered a de-chroming service.

I've never noticed my handles were chrome until I read this... I now need to change them. Any idea where to purchase?

Looking to swap to SR5 handles as well if anyone has a deal or part #s! I tried googling but there are lots of handle options out there..

Is it a pretty easy swap? I’ve had the door panels off to do the speaker swap and sound deadening but didn’t look too close at the handles themselves

 

As an alternative to pulling the parts out and painting them I'll be releasing an easily installed vinyl kit that will cover the chrome on the vent rings, center console cup holder, start button ring, and glove box key lock soon.

Meso, how did you get the center console chrome piece out? I bought the vinyl kit to blackout my interior, but those damned things are so frickin difficult to line up right and install without wrinkes, I'd rather just pull it all and paint it like you did.

Look here for details. I bought the kit and it took me 20min to install. A couple of wrinkles on the center console kit but nothing that noticeable.
