I feel like as long as you keep the tranny fluid changed frequently, don't beat too hard on the transmission, and don't allow it to get hot by adding a cooler, the automatics in most vehicles, especially Toyota's, will last a long ass time. Now as far as which transmission is more fun, there is less debate :D.

Taco is a manual, super easy to change and lift. The cruiser at least has a cooler half the size of the radiator and is easy to check and change the fluid on. Taco is more fun to drive but a lot less dailyable, cruiser is fun too but on dirt the auto makes it a bit less engaging. Both are super solid though, I don't think one would out last the other.

Yeah I agree that manuals are definitely a lot easier to work on and more to drive. But I actually prefer my auto off road most of the time just because it allows me to creep easier and focus more on tire placement, etc. When I'm going down a steep trail though, I do wish I had the manual because even locking into 1st gear and 4lo doesn't want to slow the truck down lol.

This brings up a good little topic thingy.

What’s the worse thing you’ve heard while driving your rig?

Mine was probably when I broke CVs on back to back weekends. Nice little grinding sound and bearing was gone. Next weekend attempting another trail (same park) and bam same noise. Haha

When I was gunning it to get on the freeway I heard a loud pop from the exhaust kind of like a back fire. 2.7 Motor at the time. When I got off the freeway I realized the truck idled like shit and wanted to stall but I still had a few miles to get home. So I kept my foot on the brake and gas at the same time to keep rpms at stops. I was just a few miles from home. I made it and truck didn't want to start. The crank was locked. :frusty: Bye bye 2.7. but at least I was home and I had a garage to park it in to do the motor swap and 4x4 conversion.

Probably when Florida Georgia Line came on the radio.

Second, when my ubolt was not tight and every time I’d accelerate there would be a biggest clunk sound in the back. Researched and researched and thought it was axle wrap. Bout to throw some money to prevent it then checked the bolts, they were loose, tightened them, and no more scary sound

Exhaust hanger broke and the whole system was flopping around banging the frame and body. Also this was like a week and a half ago haha.

When I listened to TW and installed a magnaflow... :stirthepot:

Speaking of which, thinking of adding a resonator and see if that helps.

How short did you go. 14 sounds good but fuck it's loud and the high end has rasp to rival a Civic. Res might help but what tone are you trying to kill, that'll affect size and placement.

    18"

Surprised it didn't come with a 'chicken fried rice' windshield banner. :stirthepot:

It's got an annoying low pitch drone when cruising, forget the RPM range, thinking 2.5k ish. Don't remember exactly.

I've got a long straight section where it would be super easy to add a resonator.
