I kept my 99 tacoma for 11 years, only got rid of it to get a new one (with 4wd).
Plan on keeping that one as long as possible.

These lists can be just about useless to gather any relevant conclusions. If you love your vehicle and can afford it do you trade your bulletproof high resale vehicle for a new vehicle and keep newer for little cost? That will skew the results and possibly the conclusions.

I finally bought my first new vehicle at 44 years old. I am learning to like new vs old and I like not having to do any maintenance beyond preventative and basics. Do I see a 15 year love affair happening at this point in my life? Not really. Not one issue with my truck but why keep it that long and act like I am poor when I can have something newer and turn my high resale into high trade in. Maybe I will make another wheeler and take my daughter out when she is out of car seats and I am onto my next truck. Maybe then I will have 15 years ownership approaching.

    **************

Years back in sales I was in deep shit over some sales reports my bosses ran. After going to get my own reports for the same accounts I went from being in shit to getting a pat on the back. Any numbers can be manipulated to say whatever you want them to read. Knowing the real story behind the numbers is the key. I showed a customer who was in government contracts and was in a serious slump due to cutbacks. They ordered 32% less product yet I grew our accounts receivable by 3% and not the 5% we were supposed to. Less product picked, shipped and invoiced yet by growing the gross profit our income increased. So be careful of what you interpret from a spreadsheet or a report. There might be a variable you missed.

They are out there, it is just the way that list is, it is only referring to the Original Buyer of the vehicle keeping it 15+ years.

Toyota Corp, if you want to dominate the truck world, and take over the number 1 position, build a well balanced and efficient 300cid L6 for the Tacoma. Awesome power for both 4x’ and towing.

People don't like the 3.5 because they think it's underpowered, and it produces 278hp & 265ft/lbs. You think copying a Ford motor that produced 150hp and 260ft/lbs, that weighs more, and gets worse gas mileage would be a winning idea?

I personally am enjoying the 3.5 over the 4.0

But I’d trade in both for a 300cid straight six. The Supra engine can be their starting point if need be and improve.

If they're going to use a straight six as the starting point they really should use the 4.0 that came in the Jeeps. Every bit as durable as the Ford's 300, but with better power and economy.

Instead of using someone else engine use a 2jz motor one of the most sought over engines. 3.0 i 6 found in the supra.

That's what my truck looked like after hauling my butt around for 16 1/2 years. Just a few days ago my wife upgraded her Sienna a week shy of 14 years. (First facebook comment was "you got new mirrors ".)

Yes, a bigger bro of the 258. My older brother once owned a Jeep with a 258. Alls he did was take the head in for machining for the use of bigger valves (Chevy small block? Can’t recall) and a torque cam shaft. It out dueled v8’s at Azusa. They’d always be blown away when we opened the hood.
