2lo Module - All Sold

Hey Guys,

As some of you are aware and many I assume are not, I've been working on a plug and play 2lo module for our trucks for quite some time now. This is something I hope to have readily available for spring or summer but I do have a couple of units up for sale right now if anyone would like one.

What are you selling?
A plug and play kit to make your truck capable of 2wd low range (2lo).

Why do I need 2lo?
If you need to ask that question then the truthful answer is you probably don't need it (aren't I a great salesman lol). Some reasons include backing up trailers, driving in and out of boat ramps, steep inclines & declines on trails with hardpack, rock crawling etc. For you guys with manual transmissions this can be a real clutch saver for some of the things you need to do in 1st or reverse. Essentially any application where you will benefit from engaging your truck's low range without worrying about binding up your driveline. Driveline binding is normally amplified when in 4lo.

How technical is the install?
Not technical at all, it is truly a plug and play unit... just click a few connectors together. You can have your truck 2lo capable in just 15 minutes start to finish!

Will it work in my truck?
If you have a 2nd gen Tacoma (

2005-2015) and a model that has 4wd then yes this kit will work with your truck

What's the price?
$250 US. That includes the 2lo module, custom enclosure, wire harness & delivery. For this product I'll be accepting payment by mailed check, postal money order or cash. Unfortunately I can't accept PayPal as the suppliers I'm using don't take it. As a Canadian I would need to withdraw PayPal funds which PayPal automatically exchanges to CAD only to have to reconvert back to USD to pay suppliers. Sorry guys, but the double conversion is a bit of a killer!

How does it work?
I've included install & operational instructions in a file at the bottom of this thread. It would take a super long post to truly outline how it works. The very quick version though is the module can prevent the truck from engaging 4wd while making the 4wd ECU believe that you are engaged. As a result you will be able to shift into 2lo rather than 4lo. As far as operation goes this is ready to go out of the box using your 4wd switch or you can also use an added switch (not included) to activate the module. If using your 4wd switch you hold the switch between 2hi and 4hi for 2 seconds, once you see the dash light confirmation that the module has been activated you then shift into 4lo as you normally would and you will actually be in 2lo (there is also a dash confirmation confirming you are in 2lo). If you elect to activate the module with an added switch then simply push in the switch, wait for the dash confirmation and then shift into 4lo (which will become 2lo with the module activated). Seems a bit wordy but it is a very simple process.

I've had a running module in my own truck for nearly a year now. A good portion of that time was spent debugging the unit. There are another 6 that have been installed in other trucks for right around 6 months now.

NOTE: There are 2 of these left for sale. To keep things simple the first two people to post in here that they will take them will get them. These are ready to ship once payment has been received.

Thanks! Lots of time and planning went into the development of this and the end result turned out great. There are a small handful of members who have been running this for a while. I’m sure they will probably comment on the kit if they come across the thread.

 

This is AMAZING, im looking into doing the FJ manual t-case swap for my 07 soon. Otherwise I would pick this up.

Thank you! The FJ transfer case swap looks pretty slick. I kind of miss the simple design of stick shift vs switches, actuators and sensors.

 

Is there any reason that this wouldn't work in a 3rd gen?

 

I have a twin-sticked FJ case. I loved having 2L capability on my Moab trip. Much of the time, things were grippy enough for 2WD, but I still needed low range.

If I didn’t have an FJ case, I’d buy this.

 

Don’t know if you guys are in the market, but figured you’d at least find this interesting.

Why would you need a 2LO module? Also I sent the link of this to our group text yesterday

 

I mean sure, but this is more directed at manual transmission owners so they don’t fry their clutch.

I didn’t do the FJ swap for 2L. I did it, and the FJ tube, to get rid of the electric actuators. It’s pretty great to just shift into 4WD and not worry about a corroded actuator or the computer holding things up.

That said, 2L is a great too. Like I said above, it’s great in situations off road where you want low range and don’t want to deal with binding in 4WD.

Depends on where you Wheel. Never used 2L here. I used it a LOT on the slick rock though.
