Took it in for the 10k service. On long trips, I’ve had the truck get stuck in 5th and 6th gear. I told the service department about it, they looked it up and ordered the part. Also had the clutch pedal greased up so no more squeaking for now! They also ordered a part to fix a sticking passenger side climate control dial. It really binds on cold mornings. My truck is not in the rear differential recall but they tightened the bolts to be safe. All in all felt like they treated me right. I love this truck and want to get the kinks out while it’s one the dealers dime.

I think you need to get a Porsche or a Corvette in order to get a 7 speed Manual, but it sure would be nice in the Tacoma on the highway.

Some of us don't like burning too much gas. Or speeding tickets

I use whatever feels right depending On the condition (uphill, downhill, traffic, etc.). It varies so much based on so many variables it seems ridiculous to even try to characterize it.

Sorry Man...good intention, but it’s such a loaded answer.

I like saving gas too, but also like to haul ass on occasion. It’s fun hi-ballin’ it sometimes.

My avg MPG is around 21...I’m a little bit of a miser that way. I’m not thinking that will change much until some OV tune goes in and I upgrade my exhaust and intake.

Have fun with your beauty of a truck, the way the truck gods meant it...manually shifted!

I'm still trying to figure out what makes my truck tick regarding throttle input, selected gear I am in, and flat terrain.

I can drive the same roads over and over and try my damdest to get the trip mpg to go over 17 driving cautiously like a grandma. But, if I just drive and forget about it, i'll see it go 21, 24, 22, 23 in the same area on different days.

Then on long winding uphills, in 5th gear, it sees 19-20. Going back down the same hills, I can't get it over 18.

Granted it is still new with just under 2000 miles on the ODO, so maybe it's just figuring itself out?
