Auto. If manual, I would’ve done a crawl box and it would be a moot point.

I think this is a solid option for those who are looking to just add 2L capability.

An FJ swap is a lot of money and work. Especially, if you have to pay someone to do it. Anyone can plug in a couple of connectors.

I don’t think anyone is going to do an FJ swap solely to add 2L. I know I wouldn’t anyway. But $250 all packaged up and ready to plug in? I’d do that in a heartbeat.

Just read the instructions @Up2NoGood. Very well written and it answered most questions that I have. When I get one I think I'm going to install a standalone switch so I can start the truck back in 2LO if I want to. One question though. Do the 4WD lights continue to flash the entire time you're in 2LO?

The FJ transfer case swap is a awesome mod. I’ve looked into it before but haven’t jumped on it yet.

No problem, I know right after Christmas isn’t an ideal time to sell these. I just have a small batch I ordered to test out the quality of a PCB assembler (they turned out great)

    I think so lol

No disagreement here, the design of the 4wd system on our trucks has a lot of points of possible failure. Twin sticks are nice and simple.

That is very much in line with my thinking too. This is more targeted if you want a fast and easy solution for 2lo.

You can keep the truck in 2lo upon every startup with the 4wd switch option too, but using the added switch is a set it and forget option if you are shutting the truck down a lot.

Yeah I have it set so the dash indicators are a constant whenever you are in 2lo. I wanted there to be a visual way to distinguish between being in 2lo and 4lo.

Ahh, I missed the note about leaving it between 4Hi and 4Lo upon start up. Cool!

Awesome product idea. I would buy one, but plan on FJ swap and crawl box.

So with my Offroad, how does this work with A-Trac, locker, and ABS or with an ABS bypass switch or locker anytime mod? Basically how does it interact with the systems?

Kind of an open ended question but with the mods available to bypass certain systems and planning for what you want, curious if they’ll work all together or if this is the answer for everything.

Good questions... The short answer is it will work with the systems you mentioned above. The longer answer is below.

The way the module has been designed is a bit complex to fully detail on here, but I'll give a quick rundown on it. The module has been designed to work inline and in conjunction with the 4wd ECU. The way it was designed was not the easiest approach (by far) however it was the safest approach and the only one I was willing to move forward with. What I mean by this is the 2lo module can never force any shifts through when it is not mechanically safe to do so. It is only capable of sending a signal to the 4wd ECU to make a shift (2hi, 4hi or 4lo) and the ECU will then check to ensure all of the safety criteria have been met before actually performing the shift and it is the 4wd ECU still in charge of those operations.

A quick breakdown of how it works. Under normal circumstances when you are not looking to use 2lo the module is of course there however it is in a sleep mode and all systems run exactly the same way they normally would if the module was not installed. When the 2lo module is activated either by holding the 4wd switch between 2hi and 4hi position for 2 seconds or if using an added switch the activation would of course be by pressing the switch in, that is when the module comes out of sleep mode and has some action. When out of sleep mode what it does is electrically locks out the ADD (preventing the truck from going into 4wd) while also sending signals to the 4wd ECU telling the ECU that it is in fact in 4wd even though it is not. The reason for that is the ECU will not allow a shift into low range until it has checked and confirmed that the truck is in 4wd. Even though the truck is still in 2wd, with all of the correct signals being sent to the ECU to tell it that it is 4wd the ECU will then allow a shift into low range provided all of the other criteria have been met (the ones you always need to perform to enter 4lo). It is at that point that the truck will be in a 2lo state.

The module is capable of more than that however that is the quick breakdown of functionality.

I personally have a sport model so from you list above only have the ABS. As I outlined above under normal circumstances there will be no change at all. The locker anytime mod will work as it normally does and also when in 2lo if you wanted. I'm not sure how the A-Trac would function when in 2lo, although one could make an argument that if you are using A-Trac then it is probably counter-intuitive to also be in 2lo.

Maybe one of the guys who took the inital run of these modules has a OR model and can comment on that specifically though.

@Rusty15Tacoma so I have a 2014 TRD OR 4x4. I have the ABS bypass mod and the Locker Anytime Mod and adding The 2LO Mod doesn’t affect the function of the other mods. I haven’t turned ATRAC off when in 2LO but I only use 2LO when maneuvering my trailer to have maximum torque, slow speed and drivability/ease of steering. I’ve been cleaning up brush in my back yard which requires backing my trailer around my house between the fence and house on a steep slope to then turn 90 degrees to miss a tree and having 2LO works great for this application and my front wheel aren’t binding and tearing up the grass.
