Yes I’m sure it has the same problem 30 years later with a completely different power train

Meh I just had bearings in my rear diff replaced at 16k miles.

All vehicles are crap now in some way imho, but if I were to trade in I'd go to the dark side. The Jeep wrangler side that is.

No oil problems but now instead of adding quarts you may have to save a while to replace turbos and 10 speeds

2.3L doesn't burn oil. It burns gallons of coolants and seizes.

    I was hoping for a V6.

I guess those days are gone.

Carbon black tailgate Tacoma insert. Red Tacoma dash insert. Winco Infrared reducing window tint. Predator steps.
Was expecting more rugged looks and a small ecoboost v6.

I had a ranger once. Once was enough.
2004 2.3l, 5mt. Drove it off the lot new. Oil changes every 3500-4000. By 80k it would drink a qt every 1000 miles.

Because the 3rd gen is the Toyota equivalent to what ford was bringing to the table with the re introduction of the ranger. In this sub forum it was common to hear about the new ford ranger and how ground breaking it would be, and how this would be Toyota’s reckoning. Fast forward to now, and it’s just... for a second I thought maybe some of these guys were right, and the US version would be a hard ass truck. Well. It has a 4 cyl eco boost and a 10speed auto. I’m sure someone will be very happy with what they will be able to tow. That’s just real nice. Outside of that, I just can’t even describe it. So I’ll let this clip explain “chok”, a lukewarm rice dish that has no taste.

It’s about as inspiring to look at as a chart describing shapes and colors. Or a Tub of paste. It looks as if I had got in it, i would simply want to drive home.

In other words, I’m stoked for ford.

I am very impressed with those output numbers, it looks good too. 3rd gens still have the best styling in my opinion, but the quality of the interior materials looks higher on this ranger.

I bet that thing will haul ass too with that power.

It looks like crap though as it's a mini f150 imo.

I like that tacomas and tundras look nothing alike.

Please. Still love the Taco much more. Combine that with Toyota reliability and it’s a clear winner.

Would love to see the frame and components. Will it have tiny CVs like the current Chevy?

I was definitely expecting something bad-ass considering the ZR2 Colorado.

    Is what it is.

Might end-up being the go-to truck for females similar to the Mustang.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
I am sure it will be a beast until the warranty runs out. I am sorry but fords pushing these little motors to hard. I will take displacement over bolt on power every time.

I was somewhat joking, the Tacoma will always hold a special place in my heart. It still looks more badass.

This Ranger looks very enticing though. Toyota may have to update the powertrain mid-cycle.
