Can the Intake element on the K&N CAI be changed to another brand?

I have the K&N intake, it's brand new, but I like the URD Amsoil filter cone. Can I put that on the K&N intake snorkle in place of their filter?

 

I know there is some negative opinion on the K&N Filter due to the oiling requirement possibly messing with the the sensor. That is another reason I'm replacing it.

But any general opinons on the intake itself?

I was to go just AFE filter, but wanted the total change out for better sound. Looks like a quality constructed product.

 

I have come up with a solution to the oil issue on the K&N -
after oiling the filter, I let it sit for 15 minutes and then hit the filter with compressed air blowing off the excess from the inside

 

all filters that come from K&N are properly oiled and WILL NOT mess ur maf sensor up... if it does K&N will replace anything that gets damaged.

its the people that oil the filter themselves that over oil it or dont do it properly and their the ones that mess their maf sensor up, not K&N..

im sick of hearing people always saying that K&N screws their system up when its their fault the whole time... either oil it right or just get another filter when its time

 

I agree i been useing k&n on all my vehicles and ive never had a problem.

 

Makes sense. I never thought of it in that way. Thanks. I'll keep the filter that came with it till it needs to be cleaned and oiled, then I'll change it out.
