A few additions to make me feel cool.
He probably figured you were in a hurry to get your truck to the shop or figured he would pass your Ford by a few hundred thousand miles soon enough. I am a die-hard GM guy but my daily drivers are Toyotas due to reliability and resale. That said I purchased an 07 F150 lariat with 34k on it. Sold it at 46k because it had cost me $4,500 to replace two oil pan gaskets, rear main seal and having the crap 5.4 plugs changes. The radio died and then the dealer tells me the crank is out of balance and that's why the rear main seal was bad again so pretty much fuck all things ford!

I’m gonna guess it will have zero impact on Toyota’s plan.

The Tacoma existed in a market already with the Ranger and it wasn’t the Tacoma that went out of production.

Same reactions when the Twins redesign came out.

There wasn't much of a progression. He went straight from zero to pants on head stupid.

Lol, Tacoma is still the only badass looking Midsize on the market, probably the best looking truck IMO of any truck available actually. This ranger looks like a Ford Fusion mixed with a lifted Honda Ridgeline. The only changes they made for NA were different style front and rear bumpers. No MT or naturally aspirated engine and transmission choices available, no regular cab. Tacoma still king.

I would like to see the 3.2 diesel be an option.

I would be interested in test driving the truck.

I'm not excited about the I4. I'm shocked Ford isn't going to put a 6-Cyl in the truck (maybe that is to come). My biggest complaint about the Tacoma is I do think it should be able to handle more payload and towing. Obviously not substantially more but I think it should handle more (1,500lb Payload at least).
The Ecoboost Engines have done a great job taking smaller engines and making them quite capable. For example my 2002 F250 V8 had a towing capacity of ~12,000lbs. The new 2018 Ford 3.5L V6 Ecoboost has a towing capacity of 13,000lbs.

I was hoping to see a Ranger with a V6 that could outdo both payload and towing capacity of the Tacoma. I'm used to Fords being powerhouses when it comes to doing truck work (As opposed to the Tacoma who's leaf springs sag and creak after taking the truck to payload capacity a single time).

I do dig the 10-speed transmission though. That might make the I4 perform very similarly to the V6 powerwise.

I do wish the truck looked a lot less feminine. Needs a complete redo of the front end. I won't be buying the truck because of how it looks. It would cost me too much money to man up the appearance. Lets see what aftermarket mods come out for this thing.
