I think most states probably need to re-evaluate their minimum requirements. Cars are more expensive than they used to be. Driving without insurance should also carry a 6 month suspension for the 1st time and 1 year for every subsequent. Drives me nuts.

The minimum requirements for liability will not fix your truck. I had to beg the dealership to lower their prices and was still out of pocket $325... roughly 30%

How did you mount the light without blocking access to the tire carrier? I looked at a similar light a few days ago but was told to mount it where it was visible to the rear it would block the hole where your tool goes to lower the spare tire.

I cheated it as far as i could; right now the light bar is covering about 3/8" of the spare tire release hole. I do not know if i can fit the rod through but will try soon.

I checked out a very bright LED light at a local car stereo shop but their install guy said if it was mounted up far enough to clear the hole the light would be blocked by the tailgate. Moving it below the hole it was obscured by the bumper.

None of that will help,as the drivers are looking down or everywhere else other than straight forward.

Why does this look like a different truck? Did you just replace it?

Looks like the original one need BIG side marker lights. :)

This is all fine and good, but there are a LOT of low life loosers driving around with no license, no insurance, and a POS car they bought off craigslist for $200. If they get it impounded, they just walk away and go buy another one. One more DWS ticket is no big deal. They already owe $6,000 in tickets. Eventually they go to jail for a few days, which is no big deal to them. Besides that, there is a federal ruling that if they park legally, when the cops pull them over, the cops can't impound the car. Most of the lowlifes know this and make sure they park legally, and then just come back a few hours later and drive away.

I would bet that at least 25% of the vehicles on the road have no insurance.

Sat my fat rear end in it.
That only matters if the cops do anything about it...I got rear ended in a traffic jam by an obviously drunk (took a tinkle on the side of the freeway after he hit me), unlicensed, uninsured guy in LA last year. He showed me his not-driver's license ID and expired insurance card and left. CHIPs showed up, looked at my photos of the guy's documents (which included his address), and said to me, basically verbatim, "yeah, if we filed a report on this we'd have to go find him, so..." No report filed.

At least the motorist assist guy did his job and pulled my fender off of the back tire so I could drive again.
