Am I the only one who thinks the North American verson of the new Ranger will have much more aggressive styling? I'd like to think that Ford knows the market here better than that. It's hard to tell from the test photos because they intentionally obscure the outside lines and styling, but the front end on the North American test models seems much more boxy and aggressive (the 'Murican way!).

You really don't like it? I think it looks pretty good. It has a similar shape to the Hilux which I also like.

If you like the hilux, I can see how this appeals to your tastes. I’m not a fan of that look. I’m not very successful when it comes to putting my finger on what about it specifically turns me off of it.

Frankly....none of the current pickups (any make or model) on the market get me too hot and bothered. The 3rd gen Taco is more or less ok. But nothing really pops for me

So that is what we are all discussing more or less- how it looks?

Does anyone else see this as a problem?....lol

Normally I would think it’s silly. Function over form and all that. But I think when it comes to ownership and use of something you walk to and get inside of everyday, looks can play a big part, and isn’t necessarily a superficial thing. When I walk to my truck and see it, I get truck butterflies and i like that.

Yup. It's a truck, cab and doors that keep rain and mud off of you, a box to put stuff. Styling, blah, blah, blah. It's not a fashion show ladies.

The Ranger looks fine, I dunno. Disappointed there's no diesel. Also would like to see what a Super Cab + 6' bed looks like, if it's like the global version at least.

I personally know someone who has replaced THREE turbos on their F-150 with fewer than 80,000 miles.

I don’t think the ranger will impact Tacoma sales much. Most likely it will bring new buyers into the midsize market, much as the GM twins did. Lots of money to be made in midsize trucks as long as gas is cheap and economy is strong.... but nothing lasts forever.

Agreed. I think Toyota’s biggest threat would be from a new frontier. A lot of people I know won’t even really consider a Tacoma or frontier because they aren’t a domestic brand, so I think a lot of rangers will be going to FORD ONLY households.

Not a bad looking truck. I think it definitely has some potential with a few small changes. Aftermarket tuning options could make the Ecoboost pretty interesting/fun. Although expected, the omission of a manual option is a killer for me personally. Hopefully Nissan doesn't turn its back on that demographic with the new Frontier like every other automaker has. I've never been able to get into Ford interiors either for some reason. To me, the whole center stack area extending into the center console just looks cheap. They should be able to find some buyers though. The Ford truck clan is a pretty loyal one.
