These Rangers are very well thought of throughout the world, can't imagine they won't be good sellers here. I had a Ranger and it was outdated. The F150 wouldn't fit in my garage, so I got a Tacoma double-cab 4x4 (2011). I've been very happy with my Taco, so going back to a Ranger might be tough for me, but I wouldn't blame anyone for looking at one.

    Yes.

I believe these requirements are years away but all the manufacturers are incorporating them now.

Too bad it does not come with a manual transmission. I understand why there would not be market for one in F150, but I see it as a missed opportunity in a 'midsize/lifestyle' truck.

A missed opportunity for the like 1-2% of US drivers that want a manual?

Motor Trend was guessing it would be around $25K for the base XL 2WD model.

Also stated the a rear locker was optional on lower trims. So you "might" be able to get a 4WD XL Super Cab with a locker for under $30K. Perhaps around a Tacoma SR ACLB 4 Cyl price with a lot more powerful engine. hmmm...

I still can't get over there being one engine option, nor the engine that was chosen. It just seems odd to me.

Seems like it ticks a lot of boxes, plenty of power...that engine gets 18 city/25 hwy in the 4WD Explorer. So more power and perhaps little better mpg than a Tacoma sounds good to me.

Assuming it gets decent fuel economy and has plenty of power.....why not?

If it's true, maybe Ford is trying to make this vehicle price competitive.

Different engine and transmission options increase the production costs.

Hence the reason they don't care about the 1 out of 100 people who might want a manual transmission

Even though it has only one engine option, (and nice one at that, 300ish tq/hp is about perfect). Ford is pretty good at letting you do à la carte with accessaries on different trims.

I am guessing you should be able to get a XL 4WD and a rear locker sub $30K. Where-as you have to buy a TRD OR to get a rear locker on a Tacoma, what are those going for now $35K+? Dealer by me has them closer to $40K.

Won't be nothing special, I got an auto Ecoboost very and don't see anything crazy, plus Ford's tend to be thirsty with the turbo 4's from my experience ('13 Escape and '16 EB Mustang vert, though the fuel tanks aren't that big either)

While possible, how many other Fords only have one engine option?
