Well shit, we'll see how it works with my iPhone 6s. I'd imagine they're the same size & weight

The iPhone SE is the same dimensions as the iPhone 5S. It just has all of the internals of an iPhone 6.

Is a socket cap screw required? Or will hex headed work?

A hex head would probably work with a small enough head that allows a socket onto it. The cavity in the ball is quite small so you’d probably want to take it with you when picking out hardware to see how it fits.

Question about the Ram mount: when you get in the truck and put your phone in the mount, does it take 2 hands to put it in the mount, or can you do it with one hand? Just a convenience factor...

Too many to list, and I've probably forgotten a bunch.
Cap screw will work better in terms of easier installation. None of my sockets were small enough to fit inside the recess to tighten a hex head.

Since that's all I had, I took a chunk of aluminum, squared it up, drilled and tapped a hole, put the bolt in it, mounted that in my mill, and then milled the head down to take a smaller socket that would fit inside the recess. Yeah, I could have gone to the hardware store and looked for another fastener, but it was more fun to modify my own. If I owned a lathe, I probably would have made one from scratch. :)

So a philips head would work though? I don't want to get those black bolts. They rust easily. I can get stainless philips head screws locally though.

I have a charging cable at my mount so I usually use both hands to fit the phone into the mount and then plug it in. When removing I use just one hand to unplug and remove it.

Charging cable aside, one or two hands to put it in the mount? Thanks.

You *might* get away with a JIS flanged bolt, but a regular hex head wouldn't work.

Certainly, and the cap screws I used are stainless. If you scroll back a few pages you will find a link to the Fastenal website that sells them by the piece.
