The squeaking is real! I had the damn thing greased at the 5k service interval and it’s back again at less than 10k miles. WTF!

I didn't mean it actually "ticks". I was referring loosely to what makes the truck do what the truck does, regarding fuel management.

I try to do my best to get the highest mpg for the given drive, and many times over the truck will get better mpg's of I don't even bother to pay attention for a while.

    Go figure?

The gas is worth hearing that engine actually wake up. ;)

I'm kidding of course, I don't drive around wound up at 6k. I do usually go 3rd to 6th when getting on the highway though...

    Well duh!

But I just don't understand it?
My gen 1 Taco has pretty much always averaged 17-19 per tank since we got it in '97 and I obviously can't monitor it's progress per drive cycle like I can the gen 3.

I suppose I should just leave it be and drive normal and not try to micromanage my skinny pedal, rpm, or gears thinking I am helping.

Use disc brake grease on all the pivot points and that old barn door squeak will go away.

I feel like I will hate it for the first week, because I won't be able to sip my pumpkin spice latte, take selfies and do other stupid things :D
Going to take it rock climbing, mudding and water crossings this spring right away, no mercy. :mudding:
Glad that I picked white colour this time, less scratches will be visible haha.

Yeah they only had access cabs in manual and I really wanted a 4 door. They also gave me a good price on it so I went with it. Years down the road if transmission problems come then may just convert it to a manual.
