Unless you want to modify your vehicle with a sawzall/grinding wheel for warranty purposes.

@90yota I'm looking forward switching from Icon to Fox/King setup. Fox shocks sitting in the box waiting for install. I guess Kings are next whenever day arrives that I find myself in a 4th gen Taco.

Glad to hear man, hopefully you havnt had any leaks with the Icons. I don't know if your rear has resis on them, but if they do Icon made a new rule that if your rear shock top mount isn't notched for the resi hose then they wont warranty it if it was installed past the previous august of a year ago.

@Coot83 Nope, resi hose cleared. I had 2.5's, I seen the 2.0 VS though where it had to be notched. Kinda remember also now that Icon coilovers required to notch the coilbucket at one time too. I never had those issues luckily, or leaks.

Yea man I thought it was madness how some of the older LT guys with Icons had their coil buckets notched for that design...luckily I don't think many kept their trucks long after that. I do remember seeing some colossal coil bucket failures though because of their "design" for OEM replacement apps.

I don't think I will ever understand why Icon feels the truck needs to be modified for their product when everyone else simply is a direct bolt on replacement.

Considering going with Fox 2.5 w/ resi in front and Fox 2.0 with resi in back. Couple questions I have:
    1. For the rear, are you able to mount the resi horizontal? Looking at the pic the fitting doesnt seem to allow for it?
    2. To run extended travel, which rears should I be looking at?

He's talking about Sway A Way (SAW)...a performance suspension brand, not sway bars...lol.

I've heard nothing but good things about SAWs for the most part, though I have heard that their customer service sucks now that they got sold to aFe a few years back. I have an older set of SAWs I got for a good deal but they need a rebuild.

Check my build thread, that's what I did. Depending on which rears you get, there are different options, but most mount the resi to the body with a clamp from Fox.

On rears, the foxes limit droop some so that you arent using your shock as a bumpstop on compression. Until you change up the rear suspension a good amount, that's sort of what you're stuck with. I'm super happy with the AccuTune valving in my coilovers, need to do the rears now that I adjusted the springs some. Shocks are all pretty similar, tuning is what makes a difference.

Regret going with 2.0's in the rears and wish I did 2.5's.

2.5's can withstand a little bit more when adding on weight for the bed or when on the trails. Theres been many times when I am out on the trails and I bottom out and I wish I had the 2.5's to help me out a little bit more. I have to say 2.0's are comfortable on road and ok offroad. Was in my buddies truck with 2.5's all around and it definitely was stiffer on road but when it came to offroad, it was what I was looking for.

Sounds like you need to upgrade the leaf pack. Orr are you running remote resi's? Resi helps a lot from keeping the rear from cavitating since you aren't mixing nitrogen and oil when you have just the C/O. Once the oil cavitates you feel empty pockets where there is no damping and usually bottom out the suspension.

Yea I am running a fox 2.0 with rear resi. Been looking into upgrading the leaf pack for a while haven't decided what I am going to do yet though. DMZ SUA is looking pretty good right now.

Everybody in a stock tacoma bottoms out with any weight in the bed because the leaf packs are good for an unloaded ride, not a loaded one. The size of the shock doesn't really have any affect on that...the springs have much more of an affect, as well as the valving that affects how it handles a load, plus other factors. Just because your buddy with 2.5s is stiffer than your 2.0s doesn't make for a fair comparison, there are so many other things that can affect that feeling, and the size of the shocks alone is nearly negligible in the equation. You can tune a 2.0 to ride like a dump truck and a 2.5 to ride like a pillow.
