any special tools needed to change a rear wheel bearing on 2000 Tacoma? does the axle have c-clips or what holds it in the pinon?

It's less Tacoma and more mod
Few special ones from what I've heard. The only thing holding the axle shaft and bearing in the axle tube is the four bolts going through the brake drum. The bearing is pressed onto the axle shaft and you need a tool to press it on and off to the right depth.

you need something to hold the back plate while you press the axle shaft out.

Just press in new bearings. Its the retainer rings on the axle shaft that need to be installed right or it'll leak bad. Just some 2'' tubing to slam down on it will work. Go little by little and check how the seal sits on the ring. Get to the middle and you're good.

so does the axle just pop out like the front cv shafts or do you have to take apart the whole pinon?

Nah just slides right out. You just have to take off the 4 bolts and your brake line. Slides right out. might take a good pull but not as wedged in there as a CV since its a solid shaft and doesn't expand or contract like a CV it doesn't have as big of a C clip holding it in.

Here’s another poser picture from this morning. 1B55C6BC-8B01-409B-B171-2EA41D315DEB.jpg
    Side note:

My heater decided to only work on high and whatever is behind the glove box doesn’t like when I turn the heater on.

    Pretty neat.

Heater cores more to the outside of the truck right?

    I believe it’s the fan.

no the heater core for the truck cab heater is right next to the fan. Hot coolant comes in and goes through a small radiator. The fan sucks in air from the cowling and blows it across said radiator in the heater core to warm it up. Air then moves to the center of the dash where the big black box of routing is that sends the air to various ducts that you select.

Didn't take any pics, but I finally got around to installing my Low Range Offroad diff drop this weekend...super easy install, hardest part was removing my heavy ass Budbilt skid plate and putting it back on (also the 2 long screws holding the diff in place were a bitch to break free).

My CV on the passenger side is still popping pretty bad when I crank the wheel to the right even after the diff drop. Not sure if that means I should look into lowering the lift on the front a bit more or if that means that the CV is already damaged and operating on borrowed time...any insight on this?

Unfortunately, my angles are still pretty bad even after the 1" diff drop (inner CV boot fins are still rubbing) so no matter what I think I need to drop the front end down a tad.

Diff drops don't help you CV angles at all really. Just lower the lift.

The PO in my truck had to replace the heater core because it started leaking inside the cabin, thus why I no longer have carpet in my truck. Glad it broke on him and not me though.

Yeah I was hoping for more but it looks like that's my only real solution. The outer boot fins aren't rubbing anymore but they were barely touching in the first place, the inners are where my main problem is. Hopefully cranking the Kings down isn't as much of a bitch as it was cranking them up.
