Not too bad! Not insane, but $33 a day makes for almost $1,000 a month!

So who wants to walk me through setting up mining software/pools on a windows 10 machine like you're talking to a 5 year old or 95 year old? I would consider myself to be pretty tech savvy, but for some reason this intimidates me.

awesomeminer sets itself up, like windows wizard
then install MSI afterburner if you want to overclock
choose the algos that best suit your card
    benchmark your speeds
tick the checkboxes and add wallet address for pools
    .....
    profit

I guess my biggest hold ups are do I need to sign up for pools before/separate to running awesome miner? If so, how do I point awesomeminer to my accounts in a particular pool? Also what are the good/reputable pools?

miningpoolhub is a good one. Especially since it has a bunch of pools all in one and you can do utilize "profit switching" in awesome miner. And miningpoolhub will auto exchange al the random coins into your coin of choice. You will need to make an account there and "make" a worker. Then in awesomeminer you click a "miningpoolhub" options and enter your username (login) and worker name and itll mine.

Auto profit switching is nice cause it will change what coin (default every 30 minutes) it is mining to earn the most $$. So if at 1am Ethereum is the most profitable, itll mine that. If at 2am MusicCoin is the most profitable, itll switch to that.

Ive also used different pools for individual coin mining but MPH is one of the best "all-in-one" pools

the pools and mining software are preprogrammed in the miner.
zpool and hashrefinary you just put your BTC wallet address in the miner, then to check your balance you go to the zpool or HR website put your wallet address in the search box and it pulls up your stuff.
multipool hub needs an account but its super easy just email, 2FA and set up your payout coin, I'm using LTC to binance.
I set my brother inlaw up on his gaming computer that has an old AMD GPU and he's making $175/month. took like 30 mins.

This is good to hear as I too would be using an older AMD GPU. Thanks for the tips. I will have to check this out later tonight.

How old are you talking? Believe it or not, outside of power usage older AMD cards are often doing the same or better than more modern ones. Thats why if you look, people are still paying damn well retail prices for the older 200/300 generation of AMD cards

Not super old. I bought it at the end of 2014. Its an R9 270X 4GB. That being said, 3 years old is like 100 in tech years.

I don't know for sure but around 4 years, I was shocked how much he was making. I told him if he finds any more of those cards to grab them, I'll buy them lol

the pump groups are getting huge, I'm following megapump group watching the shenanigans. Apparently John MacAfee is now in this group, if he's throwing his weight/money into these pumps. It's good to keep an eye on it, but don't try to make money off the pumps you'll never catch it, the mods are in early and sell to the masses.

Thatll still make ya some money instead of just sitting! It looks like itll give similar performance to the current RX 560's but will use more power than a 560 does.

That’s how I feel. I just said screw it and jumped in!

That sounds awesome. What do pools do exactly? That’s where I get lost.

Can I just use my binance account as a wallet? Would you recommend against it for safety/security?
    Good info

pools pool the miners together to use everybody's hash power to find blocks first. before other miners, or pools and get paid. you can mine alone but it would take you forever if ever to be the first to solve the block and you'll never make money. it's kinda the only way for us little guys to mine successfully.

I only use binance for the LTC wallet. I have a bread wallet for BTC but I'm going to stop using it soon, all the small transaction from mining end up costing a fortune.
infact I might just use multipool hub and get paid in LTC to save the BTC network fees.
using an exchange wallet is risky, but if you set your payouts small, MPH LTC min is 0.02 LTC or $4.50 so if I loose that I'm not worried.
or I should switch to getting paid in ETH and go back to MEW.
it's easy to change wallets so not a big deal to move around after you get mining.

    Good stuff man! Thank you.

Now binance doesn’t charge fees to move money in, so would it really make a difference? Or does the miner program charge you the network fees?

you pay the network fees going from pool to wallet, then wallet to exchange so thats another reason to skip your wallet. I'm not sure why it's not recommended I've been doing it since Oct and had no problems.
