Rear Sway Bar:

Any one seen this product before:

2005-2009 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 & Prerunner 2wd - REAR Sway Bar (3/4" diameter)

Need to know if this really fits 4x4, does it work, or rather would this improve traction and reduce body roll, or is this over kill. I know the X Runners have an X Brace, but never herd of or seen this until I stumbled upon it yesterday.

No bashing, just need pertinent info LOL...

 

I have no idea how it would effect being a 4x4 vs prerunner? So Im pretty sure that it will work with a 4x4

 

It will fit. Prerunner and 4x4s are the same except without the trans case and front diff.

 

Ive seen some of the full size trucks with them. if never plan on taking your truck off road then it would be okay. but if you do then I wouldnt touch it!

Yeah well I gave up on offroading. When im done with the mods on my truck, I will have spent about the same to have purchased a Full size fully loaded Tundra... I aint looking to scratch my baby up anymore. I will how ever still join the fellas at URE for some beers & goodtimes

About the only thing that a sway bar will help with is lateral stability in corners. They are not really designed to assist in additional traction. Check out sittinsic.com as a source if you would like one.

 

idk if those fit 6 lugs. plus those require you to weld the places for the endinks to hook up to the frame. but for offroading, articulation wise, they will not help u at all.

the hellwig one is alright, and will help with cornering.

 

Have you checked out their website lately. They have a new one that I think they are selling with the brackets. The last time that I talked to him they had the ones that needed a mount but their web page has changed since then so I am not sure anymore. I looked at the Hellwig but have not decided for sure. Are you running anything on yours?

i think the brackets are for the axle from what i remeber reading and seeing pics of, but not too sure. i remember speck has the rear swaybar sitting at home cause he needed to fab up endlinks and the stuff that attaches to the frame.

im not running anything right now, still poor lol

 

Yeah, I hear you there. I got it out on the Autobahn for the first time and really wished that the handling was better It did great up to about 105 but after that it really started to get squirly.

I really wish that they would post pics of it and give a little more info.

 

Yeah I will keep looking into this. For now I will just do all the performance mods and then decide on the traction piece afterwards.

Hey jeremiekc, off topic question but need to know; are you stationed in Germany. You mentioned autobahn, and I just wanted to know if you purchased your truckc there or had it shipped. Looking at a possible PCS in the future and trying to weigh options. I am not parting with my truck LOL...

Hey I was going to apologize for crapping on your thread a little earlier. It is your thread so ask away.

Yes I am stationed in Vilseck Germany with the US Army. I had my truck shipped from the states when I moved here. The military will ship two cars now I think but you would have to check on that. When I moved here in November they were only shipping one. I paid to have my car shipped here and the Government shipped the Taco.

As far as having your truck here it is totally great. There are not alot of trucks on the roads around here. Driving your truck BALLS out on the Autobahn is an awesome rush. The only down fall is that parts are a real bitch to get and if you break your window like happend to me the first month it costs about $1500. If you have any warrenty work that needs to be done you are pretty much hosed as well since once your truck leaves North America your warrenty is no good.

 

I have that rear sway bar.
2 wheel dbl cab sport.
It fit fine at the stock heigth.
When I put in the 2" AAL I had a bit of a problem.
The vertical bolts and tubing that connects to the frame were too short to reach. Look at the instructions in the link pic. #3 shows the connectors.
I tried to rotate the mounts on the axel up as far as they could go but ran into the brake lines before it could go far enough to make it.

Now I can fab some longer bolts and tubing to reach but I have not done so yet.
Trucks on the street need all the help they can get in corners.
So if you are stock lift theey will fit.
If you have lifted it at all you may have to do some fab work to make it fit.

 

Hey thanks man. Thats the info i needed. I guess if you want to bring your toys overseas you gots to be ready to pay the price. Oh well, I would not do it any other way.

Awesome. I am taking out my AAL, and just gunna run with the 4 Leaf TSB from the dealer. Truck sits to high in the rear. So this is definately one step closer to improving road conditions.

It is really not that bad of a price to get your second vehicle over here. It cost me about $1000 to ship my second vehicle. If you do end up coming over here let me know I we can link up once you get here. Plus if you are coming I would really like to get a BSP front bumper....LOL!!
