So true! Great round out to 100 yards and certainly lays the smackdown. I use Winchester soft points and zero'd at 50 yards. It drops about 18 inches at 200 yards. Anything past 100, I take a 30-06, 300wm, .270 or 6.5

Yeah, the Marlin 336/.35 Rem combination is a great brush gun, but if there's a chance of a shot past 100 I bring the Savage 111 in '06.
The 200gr Core-Lokt I use in that .35 have dropped every deer I've ever shot with them like they were brained with a sledgehammer, but I wouldn't want to push much beyond 100 yards with them because of the drop. I like the Hornady Leverevolution, too, but haven't had a deer walk in front of me since I've been using them.

A good friend of mine shoots the Hornady Leverevolution and he says it drops about 8 inches at 200 yards sighted in at 50 yards. I haven't had the opportunity to shoot one with my 336 yet. Just bought it this past summer. I did have a few opportunities to shoot a basket 8 point and probably 20 does but it was still early in the season so I let them pass. Maybe next year I'll drop the hammer on one. Most of my deer hunting is 100-400 yard shots hunting over fields so the .35 doesn't see daylight too often.

I do a fair amount of brush stalking, usually early in the season when they aren't moving around on their own. I miss having it be cold during the first couple weeks of deer season...

Yeah hunting in NC when bow season comes in is brutal (2nd week in September) I burned through some thermacell pads and didn't even sling an arrow. We can bait here so the deer always hit the corn piles early in the season and about the end of Nov into Dec is where I start considering stalking them instead of sitting in a stand.

Ours starts either last week of October or 1st week of November, depending on how the year falls. Used to be in the 20's & 30's overnight with daytime highs in the 30's & 40's when I was first hunting, but the last few years it's been in the 30's & 40's at night and 50's & 60's during the day. Since it's so warm half the time they just find someplace sunny and bed down all day.

Anyone apply a gun wrap/skin to any firearm? They look good but, curious about how the hold up over time.

I wrapped a Remington 870 slug gun about 4 years ago. If you do it right (clean the gun to take all the oil off and use a heat gun) it held up very well. I got rid of it two years after wrapping it so I can't speak to how it has held up now.

Its pretty cheap to do it and if you don't like it, it comes off fairly easy with a little bit of effort. I got the wrap off Amazon for maybe $20 buck.
