I have the navigation enabled system on my sr5 and although I am pleased with it, the gps could be better when it comes to finding alternate routes with less traffic(google maps beats the crap out of it) and having android auto would be nice.

I would consider a system around $500 but it has to keep full functionality of steering wheel and other functions, so I would need a maestro correct? Anything that would be worth it around that budget or am I better off keeping the system and sell it when something better comes along?

The nav in most stereo setups is going to be worse than Google maps because it isn't updated regularly. Google maps is updated daily and learns from the millions of drivers using it daily.

Your best bet is one that has Android Auto and Apple Carplay functionality so you can use whatever phone you have at the time.

Even navigation showing up in the gauge cluster screen? I thought that was the one thing that never worked, regardless of which aftermarket headunit was installed.

Obviously, if the SR5 doesn't have that option in the cluster, then it's a non-issue.

I know mine has it and although I can live without it, it would definitely be nice to have.

    Any insights @RNocera ?

Also how doable is a diy swap? I don't have any experience swapping vehicle systems like these but do work with computers/electronics often so I would like to do it myself to also learn something new if possible.

When I switched from the 6" entune to the 7" entune (Ron's old one) -- the nav showed up in my guage cluster -- If you have the 7 -- and you don't see it -- there is something wrong and the dealer should be able to help you-- could be just a setting? --hopefully

Any pictures of the new Kenwood unit after installation? Assuming you have a 3rd gen?

Kenwood also has three wireless android head units coming out. Alpine already has a wireless apple carplay unit. I'm planning on getting this one this year.

I haven't played with the gauges much. I will take a picture of the gauges I see and what it looks like installed shortly.

I interested to hear how the Alpine works with the wireless connection. With the Kenwood, I have to plug mine into a USB port. I don't mind much because it charges at the same time.

You can read about it here. It's the Alpine iLX-107 and there's youtube videos about it also.

Screen Shot 2018-01-17 at 12.23.02 PM.jpg I don't think it does. This is a list of what you can see through the Maestro RR device. I was hoping you could see the transmission temp for towing.

Hmm, this guy got it working with a pioneer. I wonder if it's a kenwood thing or if it will work with a specific OBDII device.
