A while back, I mentioned this girl named Emily I used to be friends with. She complained more than I did, and as a former EMT she was fiercely loyal to emergency personnel (obnoxiously so). She was a hypochondriac, which also wore heavily on me. Every time she messaged me on Facebook or texted me, she was on crutches or had her arm in a sling, or she was having heart problems or asthma problems. She honestly reminds me of Eddie Kaspbrak from Stephen King's IT...

She also, in my dad's own words, acted like a mother hen...

Last September, I went to my friend's 31st birthday party at a very nice local bar/restaurant for a night of drinking and karaoke. It's not like I was by myself, at some shithole dive bar down the street, but look what she wrote anyway...

Just over a week later, she made these comments on a post I made about alcohol regulations in California vs. Pennsylvania, while visiting family in California...

    IMG_4252.jpg IMG_4253.jpg
    Completely unprovoked...
    IMG_4254.jpg
Around this time, she was also looking to buy a pickup truck that she can't afford, and she asked my advice on which one to buy. I told her she should buy a Tundra, and she said that "All Toyotas are shit" and "Can't haul shit." That was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back, and I pretty much disowned her. She's been blocked on Facebook and in my iPhone contacts...

There was a whole plethora of reasons I cut Emily out of my life...

For starters, back in 2015 she got her driver's license suspended for driving without insurance. In early 2016, while she was still serving out the suspension, she used me as a free ride, and I drove her all over creation. I drove her to a job interview, to the farm where her horse was being boarded, to a saddlery shop, and other places. This went on until she made the mistake of saying she wanted me to give her rides because she didn't feel like paying for Uber, and I said no more.

And then there's the whole issue of being obnoxiously biased in favor of emergency personnel. For example, one I time I was walking my boss's dog in Doylestown Borough and a sheriff's deputy hopped the curb in his prisoner transport van at a relatively high speed, almost hitting us in the process. Why? He was eating sandwich and driving. I told Emily about this and she basically said that the deputy could have been responding to a call (with lights and sirens off, and a fucking sandwich in his hand? Fat chance!), and I should have gotten out of his way. Excuse me?!?! I was on the sidewalk. Last time I checked being a sheriff's deputy didn't grant one the right to drive on the sidewalk...

She also continually berated me for the times I got pulled over, when I've still got a clean driving record and she got her license suspended for driving without insurance...

I have nothing but respect for LEOs and firefighters, but this girl I told you about was kind of a bitch to me!

I hate to agree, but a stock tacoma has the weakest suspension ive ever seen on a truck.

The Tech working on the truck took it. Well funny you talk about the AC. After the supposed rebuild of everything, they didn’t tighten down the AC compressor bolts, and one fell out and the other was almost out when I noticed on an inspection post drive home. Can’t imagine the shit show that would have caused if it fell out at highway speeds.
8k miles the rear end took a dump had to replace it and Carrier bearing. Had to replace front wheel bearings 3 times <20k miles. Blew right front speaker door speaker and I don’t even listen to music much I’m a sports radio guy. Trans started slipping real bad at 25k miles. Few other misc problems. All on a stock truck. I had it for almost a year and ditched it. I’m certain I just got a bad one off the line, this why I didn’t swear off Toyota like I have ford. So I decided to come back to Toyota this time around and get a tundra and wished I would have done it sooner. I fucking love this truck.
    Fuck that narcissistic bitch

And the fact that you're a firefighter and think it's stupid she's showing this obnoxious bias and taking the side of emergency personnel should say something...

If Emily were even remotely attractive, I probably would have put up with her shit a bit more.

Unfortunately, if she were a vehicle, she'd be a Pontiac Aztek...

In my line of work we have what you call a “rescue randy” and “paragod” he/she is that one person who has the god complex. They always feel like we are above everyone else. They are always telling the most outlandish stories about emergency calls when in reality they haven’t done shit. They always are super equipped with all kinds of dumb shit to handle a cut finger call. I go by the adage of, the ones who talk about doing the most have done the least, but the ones who a mull about what they have done, have experienced the worst. This chick is a rescue randy and needs to pipe her ass down.
    Yeesh that sounds rough

Now my boss on the other hand, I'd compare her to a 1980s Mercedes 300E, or a new Tundy!

    @Iamraiderpower

There are some friends who aren't that good looking, but are genuinely good friends...

I'd compare them to a rusty and beat up pickup truck that's been really well-maintained mechanically, or a car that looks ugly but is still ultimately built well, like Nissan Cube. The old GMC Safari my bar used as a work van fit this category perfectly. It was beat up and the A/C leaked, but it had all-wheel drive and it refused to die!

Some friends, like my boss, are both really attractive and really great friends.

Emily is like a Pontiac Aztek, because the Pontiac Aztek is both ugly and not very well-built at the same time!
