So as some of you may know I've been working on making my own upper control arms and I've now collected enough parts to start my jig. The geometry is the same as oem but a 1" uniball is used instead of a ball joint.

    20171018_180648.jpg

Here's a picture of the style of jig Im going to make

    12235935690.jpg

And here some pictures of an "aftermarket" uca over an oem one. It shows how the geometry is the same.

    IMG_0294.jpg
    IMG_0291.jpg

We're actually really lucky as our uca has no bend in it and we have 2 bolts. Now my uca wont be completely bolt on as I'm going with a standard bushing from Ruff Stuff which uses a 9/16 bolt. This means I'm going to remove the square nut and housing but replace it with 9/16 Grade 8 hardware which is much thicker/stronger. The bushing is 2 5/8" which is a snug fit but a fit none the less.
Here's a test fit photo of the bushing (using stock bolt so its got some wiggle room)
    20171018_172541.jpg

I basically need to built my jig, collect a few more parts, and take it to a fabricator.

Also in the next month or so I'm doing a ubolt flip. I've come to the conclusion it requires a oem 6 lug axle plate with square ubolts and a set of new lower shocks mounts. I've got the parts I just need to set a date to see someone to do it for me.

These are the axle plates (I got mine for free)

It should help with our ground clearance in the back. It's funny when a 6 lug does a u bolt flip their stock hardware helps us do ours.
I'll post more on this once I get it done and have tested it.

My goal is to finish just uppers for now but Im leaving room on the jig for longer lengths. Luckily it looks like the shocks are the same for mid and long travel so only have to cry once in the shock department.

Been planning to do the same, need long travel bad. Do you think the movement in the upper bushing at 2 5/8 will be fine for long travel as well. I have been trying to find the upper bushing that total chaos used in there kit but can’t find the uppers only the lowers, seems like there a bit smaller then average

So they exist but they expensive as hell lol (bushings only) The thing is I don't know what the tubing used for their bushings so I went with a premade kit.

Also with the keep in mind with 2 5/8 bushing kit I'm will remove the square nut and its housing to fit a bigger bolt while total chaos uses the stock hardware.

I really am watching this with eyes wide open - I want to see how that long travel front build works out... I assume you are going to do the lower control arm as well? Also, not 1000% certain, but I believe the long travel shocks are different than the mid travel shocks.

My plan is to do mid travel first which is just uppers with stock geometry and uniballs. Long travel is extended uppers and lowers with uniballs and a bunch of other things gusseted.

Oh man. I can't wait to watch this pan out. I've been on the hunt for a set of used TC UCAs for a while.

If someone can get me some good measurements of there TC coil-over mounts ( Exact ones highlighted below) I will consider have a machine shop bang some out.
